The End of a Decade...

Staying at home tonight on New Years has been quite an interesting night. There have been many programs on TV today documenting the end of a decade. This got me thinking what a BIG decade this has been for me. These past 10 years I have seen a lot of changes. I was accepted in to the PDP program at Simon Fraser University, I graduated from PDP. I retired from my First job at Second Look Day Spa in Coquitlam Centre. I began teaching and was able to purchase my first car. I then travelled to Australia for 6.5 weeks with a good friend at the time. I then earned my first teacher's contract, and was able to save up enough money to purchase my first condo. I then lived there for four years. In that time. I dated, and then met that special someone, my current husband Andrei. I was accepted into my Master's of Education program at Simon Fraser University. We dated and then got engaged. I then sold my first place, to buy the house we are currently living in. We got married, and now here it is 29 minutes and the end of a decade. I really can't believe it! I hope the speed of the last three years of this decade are not an indication of the speed of the next 10 years. This was a memorable decade for me lots of good times! Lots of memories, and character building! Looking foward to what is instore in the upcoming decade!

Happy New Year!
All the Best in 2010!
Peace and Happiness for you all!

Sweat Treats Swap Items

I have volunteered to host a swap on my favourite message board. I decided to chose the theme of cupcakes, as I received quite a few cupcake scrap goodies for Christmas. Including the Cricut Sweet Treats cartriage, Hero Arts Cupcake clear stamps, and the Hampton Arts Christmas Stamps, this past Christmas. They are fun to use, and I had a lot of fun creating these projects!

I also learned lots about the cricut today, while creating with my Mom. We were exploring one of her new cartriages she got for Christmas Wild Card. This was a cartriage, I would not have considered buying. But, after having some fun with my Mom and hers, I would definitely consider getting this one. Or borrowing hers a lot!

"Let's Get Crafty" Episode #1: Scraproom Tour

Finally, I have been able to create a video of my scraproom.I used my new camera. However, I am really disappointed in the quality of the video. The program that I use to convert the file has made the video not as clear as the original format. If you want to watch this video you will need to mute the music on my blog first.

Updated: If you checkd out the video, please be sure to check out the new one! With a lot of frustration and a BIG thank-you to my friend Miguel. I was able to create a clear video without too much time. Including the uploading and editin. Phew...I knew it had to be possible. But,it took Miguel to lead me to the way. I am very happy with the results, and hope to film more of these in the future.

Christmas Celebrations 2009

Andrei and I had a wonderful first married Christmas this year. We are developing new routines, and enjoying the time we had together. Andrei worked nights on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so we had to work around his schedule. However, that did not interfere with having a wonderful time with friends and family.

Christmas Eve we headed over to Andrei's parents for our celebration. We had an early supper and opened presents and then Andrei headed to work at about 7:00. It was a fabulous time because Attila and Gabriela came for Christmas this year. So, we were able to chat and get to know each other much better.

Christmas Day Andrei returned from work. He slept and I headed off to my Mom and Dad's for brunch. Grandma was there and we chatted and spent quality time together. I returned home to spend time with Andrei. We had bubbly apple juice and opened our stockings by the Christmas tree. I sent Andrei off to work, and then I celebrated Christmas with the Mulschlegels. I missed turkey dinner this year, but was able to pull off a fun gift exchange and lead the turkey basters for a Christmas Sing Song. They were strong, as it must have been the extra performance at the wedding this year.

Boxing Day we celebrated the Sanderson Christmas. Grandma returned in the morning. We had a yummy brunch and then opened presents in the early afternoon once Andrei woke up from night shift.

Both families spoiled us, as we got some lovely gifts. I am pretty excited about my new craft toys, and can't wait to start playing with them. I will post some of my creations in the next couple of days.

Christmas Village 2009

I am busy finishing off last minute projects, and then I will be giving my room one big scrapping overhaul! It is time for a clean up! I can't wait to see the desk and parts of the floor again! However, creativity involves mess! At least in my world it does. I wanted to share a You Tube Video I just posted of the holiday village my class created out of paper bags. They did a fabulous job!

12 Days of Christmas...

Can you believe it? There are only 12 days till Christmas. I certainly can't. I have been playing in my scraprrom today, while watching the snow fall from the scraproom window. It is great to be inside and be cozy in a warm home. Busy weekend this weekend, as Andrei and I went to one of his coworkers for dinner on Friday night. Then yesterday, slept in and then did some Christmas shopping with Julie. We had a good time. Then I came home to get ready to meet my friends from my Master's program. We met for dinner. It was very pleasant to see everyone and share master's program stories. I can't believe that some of us are done, and that some of us are close to being done. As of this summer it will all be over for me!

I have been enjoying some scrap time in my room today. With no homework it feels good to just relax, but some how it is almost more exhausting because I am use to being so ridiculously busy. But, I think in the next few minutes I am going to go outside and shovel the driveway. So, I will have I will be busy doing that for a little bit.

Christmas Cookie Advent Calendar

I really enjoy creating with the friends I have met on the message boards. It is a great place to be inspired to create, as well as share projects with one another. This was one of those creative swaps, that I couldn't miss out on. There were thirteen of us who signed up and we each had to make two squares. I was assigned number 7 and 17. Yes, that is right 17. However, I had done number 18. But, Dolly who had not completed her squares, so we just switched up the numbers/ All thirteen of has created the same squares for everyone. We sent them to Gloria, who swapped them all out. We received 25 squares back all uniquely decorated by the group.

Our job was to then take the cookie sheet and create the calendar. I had to buy the cooke sheet, red spray paint, and magnets. All the other supplies I had. I am very happy with the effect.

The December was made with the Mickey Font and the cricut. I then used the cuttlebug to emboss the letters. I used Inkadoo Christmas Flourish with the essential glue pad and  Martha Stewart peridot glitter for the red strip that is behind the letters.

Two 12 x12 sheets were needed for underneath the dates. My Bind it All 1/2 inch corner round worked very well for finishing off the paper corners. I am very pleased with the results. This is a Christmas treasure for many years to come!

20 Days Till Christmas!

Wow!

December already! I can't believe it. Amongst report cards, coursework, and my final assignment. I can't believe that Christmas is quickly on its way. I thought I would write a quick post to share that the content of my report cards are now written. I just have to edit them, and then I can had them in for approval on Monday! Very exciting to get those out of the way. Now, I just have my final project to work on, and then once that is complete I will be able to say I am finally ready for the holiday spirit.

We have had our Christmas Tree up for almost a week now. But, I haven't had time to put the decorations on it. I receive my first Christmas Card in the mail from my Aunt Jo-ann. Mine are made and ready to mail out. But, I won't do that till next week sometime. I will be sending wedding thank-you cards and Christmas cards all at the same  time. I have projects to post too, but too busy to do that now.

Report Card Mania

Yes, it is that tme if year again.  To be honest, I am not really sure where all the time goes in a school term. But, here it is... two more weekends before my report cards are due, and I am trying to balance work, school, and home life. All with a threat of a possible cold looming. I want to be thinking about getting ready fo Christmas, but that is really hard to do if I am consumed with assignmens, marking, and report cards. However, I have set myself some goals this weekend, with rewards along the way to help keep me motivated. This is making all the difference!

My reward prior to starting them today, was taking the night off last night to rest. I am currently working on several projects at the momment. I am working on an Advent Calender. (I think I will have that finished today, so I will post later tonight.) I completed my Christmas Cards for friends, family and such. But, will not be posting those because I would like them to be a surprise for all of you. I will be working on my Chrismtas card for my students. I usually always make them a card to hand out at our Christmas Breakfast party. Then I am working on some Christmas decorations for my co-workers. Just a little something, and a care package for the secretaries at my school. They are always so much help. I have lots to do to complete these. But, I enjoy doing it so it is worth it.

I am contemplating that next year, I migh enter a craft fair, and sell some of my creations. I have never done this, but think I might. We will see, I might be busy with other things next year, but one thing is for sure I won't be working on my master's. Yeahhh!!!!!!

To keep me accountable for meeitng my goals, I have listed what I need to complete this weekend. I have inserted rewards, as I go along.

Girl's Night Album

I am enjoying my evening to myself tonight. I have beenplaying in my scraproom since dinner. I finally finished off my Girl's Night Album. It was such a fun night, and the pictures were so much fun to scrap too! I could make the layouts really girlie! Love the pinks! Then I played around selecting photos to make a small acrylic album that I can have on my desk for display. I don't have many pictures there, so I thought this album might be a nice way to show them off. I find the acrylic albums so challenging but fun at the same time. I am also going to try another project. I am going to tray to make a little card bag that looks like a cupcake. I will post pictures of it when it is comlete! That is if it turns out....

Christmas Card Package

After taking a picture of my new stamps for today's blog post. I couldn't resist making a set of cards with this adorable little elph stamp. I plan on making some more cards with the other stamps very shortly. I am hoping to use this as part of a gift package for last minute gift ideas. It is fun to make these packages up...it almost makes me think that I could sell them. But, alas, where would that be?

A Christmas Stamp Set a Reward for a Productive Weekend

This is one of those weekends where I feel single. Andrei has worked day shift on both Saturday and Sunday, so I have been home alone to putter about. I managed to sleep both weekend days. This was by far a very lovely treat.

I worked on my Imaginative Science Unit for my course work. This is my final project for the semester. I have a really good start. I was even able to get some feedback from my professor on the project, so I can incorporate that feedback. Now for the last couple of hours I have been playing in my scraproom...a luxury these days. I am currently working on an All About me 6x6 page for a swap I am in. I belong to a message board, and all 19 of us are creating a page for ourself and everyone else in the group. I had some difficulty originally, but I think I am on track now. I was able to create a design. However, I don't know what I would do without my cricut and cuttlebug. I use them for every project.  I will post the finished product once it is done.  I need to go get the pictures printed now. But, I think I will leave that for a Tuesday night project, since Wednesday is a holiday. I will enjoy a little excursion while Andrei is working his last night shift.

The pictures is my reward for workin so hard. These stamps I found at Micheals while shopping for some Christmas Gifts! What a great price! $1.50 each. They will be so much fun to colour! And I can use these for tags and such.

Halloween Treat Boxes

I said I would post the Halloween Treat boxes, so here they are. I got the idea for the box from my searches online. One piece of 8.5 x 11 piece of paper makes two of the boxes. Can you believe that? I certainly can't. I also made the little treat bag as well. I reused a studio g plastic package and stamped with stazon ink. The top part was made with the cricut and then cuttlebugged with the spots and dot folder. A fun esaape from the routines of work.

Halloween Bella Cards

Wow... I don't know where the time is going...it seems like now that I am a married women it is going by extremely fast. Work, school, and home stuff has me moving from one thing to the next. I guess I am not used to all the house work of a house versus a condo...LOL! I will blame it on that. Today is the Provincial Professional Development Day, so I will be off to a conference later today. I am actually presenting there to discuss my Master's program and how it relates to the work I have been doing in my school district.

However, with that said...I have been trying to take little crafting breaks and work on projects here in my craft room. I made these cards for some co-workers at work. I have made a little treat basket to go with it, but will post those later. I got creative with the stamps. I do not own the pumpkin bella stamp, but I sent some paper to a friend and she stamped the images to me and mailed them back. I received them last night, and couldn't wait to colour them. These stamps are so much fun to colour! I used my water colour pencils. There is a product on the market that I have been eyeing. They are called copic markers. But...they are very expensive, so I am not sure I can justify the expense. I will use these water colour pencils for now which give a great effect. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

It was a busy weekend, but it was also relaxing at the same time. How does that happen you might say....? Well. it all starts with Friday night with a trip to the mall to pick up a hot video game and do some windo shopping with dear husband. Saturday was a lovely sleep in day, and then Thanksgiving preparations began for the dinner I hosted for my mother in law and grandma. It was my Grandma's 88th birthday, so we had her over for dinner. Our Thanksgiving group was quite small because my parents are on an Australian cruise, my father in law was off hunting, sister was working night shift, so it just left the four of us. However, I didn't mind that at all because if things went a muck it is a lot easier to treat two other people for dinner than a group of 16. But, I am happy to report that the dinner was very successful. Everytihng went off without a hitch!. Sunday day was spent doing homework. I am currently working with a partner on an oral presentation we are looking at Nel Noddings and Curriculum of Care. We are using her theory to critique a IRP curriculum document. (How many of you are yawning now!?!) Anyways, I got that out of the way, and then did some gardening and washed the car. I then went to Micheals with Julie and bought a few treats. They had a 50% coupon that I couldn't let go to waste. Andrei worked all day so I was very happy to see him when he got home. We hung out and watched HGTV. Off to work again this morning, I had the Day to myself with no homework and so many things to chose from. So, I ended up doing a little bit of everything. Scrapping, hanging out with Julie, window shopping, laundry, and all of that. My I can't wait until everyday is a day like this...I will not miss having homework hang over my head.

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Best Wishes!

Fabulous Weekend!

This weekend was a fabulous weekend! The weather was a good start to it. It felt a bit like summer again with the a fall breeze. I was able to get a little bit of everything in including homework, shopping, errands, a night out at the movies, brunch, and some crafting. It was very pleasant. I took these pictues of our house today. The leaves have started to change a little. I am trying to figure out what colours they will finally turn to. The other pictures are of Andrei and I at the Gilnetter Pub for brunch. We walked there and enjoyed our beautfil weather. We waited for a seat on the patio, and boy was it worth the wait. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Then I made these two cards for World Card Making Day. However, World Card making day was actually yesterday. But, I was too busy to make time to make them that I made them tonight instead. The challenge was to make one card for a girld and one for a boy. They had to be embellished in three ways, and use three techniques. The techniques I used for the girly one was stamping, water colouring, and glitter. For the birthday boy card I used embossing, inking, glitter, and coloured digital image that is decorated with glue. A lot of fun to make. I was acutally able to use two of my card kit bags. Card kits are such a way to go when you don't have a lot of time to make.

It was a Scrappy Day...

I took some time today to play in my scraproom. I had a blast!I made a baby girl card for a friend of mine. Plus completed a Baby word book to give as a little gift. I began working on some Halloween treat boxes for colleagues and scrapped with my friend Sara tonight, as we were working on her daughter's baby book. It was a fanastic way to be creative. Here are some of the projects. I am not posting the Halloween treat boxes until they are completely finished.
