Mother's Day Cards 2011

There are a lot of challenge sites right now that are encouraging all of us to get our Mother's Day cards completed for next weekend. I have had this basic grey paper in my collection for about a month. I bought it purposefully at Micheals on a sale because I liked the colours, and I don't tend to use colours like this! So, I wanted to challenge my creativity with this butterfly paper. Plus...I have been using a lot of Alison Davis sketches, and she always comments on how striped paper brings a project all together. this paper line had a pretty coorinating striped paper! So, I made this card! I am very pleased with the results!

This is a card that I actually didn't use any Cricut! I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch, and a Studio G cling stamp for the sentiment!

Gloria's Sketch Challenge April 15th

Gloria from the Canadian Scrap and Swap message boards always posts challenges and has prizes to go with them. Since I have been working so hard on getting pages completed for my Wedding Album....I haven't had a chance to make many cards lately! I am finding that I do need to take a break from the wedding album for a week or two just to challenge myself to do other with other techniques, tools, and projects. So, I decided to try two of Gloria's sketches the April 15th and the April 1st. However, I can't seem to find the April 1st sketch now. It might have been deleted mistakenly. So, I can't find the sketch for inspiration. However, this card still had the sketch. I used my cuttlbug, gypsy, cricut, and New Arrival cartridge for this project! I love those little feet....I think they are just darling!

TinkerBell Disneyland Autograph Book

My girlfriend is taking her daughter to Disneyland next week, and I offered back in December to make an autograph book for her to take with her to Disneyland. Her favourite character is Snow White, however I dont' have any snow white stuff to use, but have a tone of Tinkerbell. You may recall the Mailbox that I made at Christmas time for her daughter. Well, it was quite the struggle to find Snow White product. I don't have the Princess cricut cartridge, otherwise it would have been much easier to whip some up! Maybe that will be a future cartridge for me! I will have to watch for when they come on sale at But, for now I used some of my Tinkerbell stash! I have been really wanting to make a Mini Album with all the goodies that I have. But, have no idea what I would do with the album after I made it? But, it would be fun to do! Stay tuned...maybe there will be one in the upcoming future! I used my gypsy to cut out the chipboard for the album. The shape is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I cut it in half to accomodate a size that would be easy to carry around. You may recall that I made a Tinkerbell autograph/ mini album a couple of years ago for antoher friends daughter. However, I chose not to make this an album that holds pictures because my girlfriend said that it was difficult for the characters to sign on the designated page. So, this is strictly intended to be an autograph book!

Groom Arrives

The original sketch for this layout was suppose to be with the week four sketch from my Alison Davis Sketch. However, that sketch just wasn't working for me, so I decided to use one from my sketch book. I am happy with how this turned out, and it is so easy to make coordinating embellishments with the book and my cricut and gypsy. I am not really to sure how I was able to scrapbook well without the cricut Gypsy. This layout contiues to use DCWV paper black current, stickers from the dollar store, and the chiboard stickers were from K&C company that I purchsed over Spring Break. The circles and the sayings were cut out with my Gypsy and use the Gypsy Wandering cartridge and the Opposites attract cartridge!

Remember Moments

This set of photos was taken on the steps prior to the wedding ceremony procession. I had this layout completed last weekend, but I had no idea what to use for the title. I had a heck of time coming up with one. Thankfully, I have quite a few cartridges now that I have premade sayings. I was looking over the "cartridge" that came preloaded on the gypsy called Gypsy Wanderings and found the saying Remember and then moments. These seemed to work well together, as I do remember the moment of being on the stairs, it was at that moment in time that I had a whole rush of emotions and panicked because I didn't have any tissue. However, I was able to pull myself together to smile beautifully walking down the aisle with my proud father!

Bridesmaid and Maid of Honour Layouts

I must say that I am really enjoying using Alison Davis sketch books to complete my wedding album. I am able to get a lot of photos on one layout. They are clean, but embellished, and are easy to adjust and make your own. Even more so now that I have completed the Sketch class. I am in love with the Martha Stewart Butterfly punches I borrowed a friends at a crop that I went to last weekend, but I have since purchased my own. But, for a bargain of course! Never without my coupon! The font was completed with the Cindy Loo cartridge, and the paper comes from the Black Current DCWV stack.

Easter Long Weekend

I can't believe that it is already Monday night. I just fed the dog, and now I am starting thing about getting ready for work tomorrow. Wow! Did this long weekend ever go fast!It was a restful busy weekend if that makes any sense, and I appreaciate them even more knowing that I have no coursework haning over my head. I was able to enjoy my weekend, even though my darling husband worked all weekend. I got lots of housework done on Friday before I headed over to my sisters to decorate Easter cookies with her Cricut cake machine. We are getting better with the fondant each time, although my sister would completely disagree with me! She is a perfectionist and thinks her machine isn't working properly! Ugggg....

Saturday was another day of puttering around and sleeping in, and then I headed over to my Aunt and Uncles to decorate Easter Eggs. It is a long tradition that we have....However, I am not sure if we had the artistic spirit as in other years, as near the end we resorted to using the plastic shrink wrap. But, they turned out great! I made a scrappy purchase at Walmart. There Cricut Lite cartridges are on sale in the flyer for 29.00. It was quite the ordeal to get them for that price becuase they weren't coming through the register at that Price. But, I bought two of them for 29.00 each after being very patient but persistent.. One of them is called Bloom, and the other one is called Hoot N Holler. THe Bloom is a very nice garden image one!

I headed home and did a bit of scrapbooking. My posts above will showcase some of the crafty projects that I worked on this weekend. Sunday was Easter Lunch at my Mom and Dad's. The whole Mulschlegel clan was there! We talked lots about Maverick and had a yummy brunch! Hey who ate all the cheese buns! LOL! I came home and worked on cleaning my scraproom once Andrei went to work. We couldn't take Redley for a birthday was too wet!

Today I slept in and then went up to Mom and Dad's to visit my Grandma. I gave her the Easter treats that we had made, and had a good visit! It is always such a busy family weekend! But, it was good to catch up! Now I have some tidying up to do in my scraproom, and then will take it easy before bed! I plan on watching some shows on the PVR!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend also!

Easter Baskets 2011

I really enjoy making up litttle gift baskets using my Cricut Expression. Easter is such a fantastic time to make them! I made these up for some famly members, and will be making some more tomorrow too. But, they take no time at all and I love the personal handmade touch! These boxes were made using the Sweet Treats cartridge and the Create A Critter cartridge. These are two fabulous cartridges. The bags I purchased ages ago at a Doller Store I was able to buy two packages of 20 bags for 1.25. It helps to hold all the goodies in, as I always seem to buy way to much to put in them. I am hoping to make some Easter cards tomorrow!

Crop-Paper-Scissors Colour Challenge

This card I am pretty excited about as it was a project I completed for one of the challenges from last weekends online crop. I was looking through my scraps for another project and found the patterned paper. This patterned paper instantly reminded me of the appearance of the bedding,
so I thought I would use it for a card. The border punch was a new punch that I purchased over Spring Break during Joanne's fantastic sale! It is by EK success.

Ridiculous Sketch Challenge

Now a week or so ago, Gloria found this ridiculous sketch online! She couldn't believe and neither could the board that someone would post like something like this for inspiration. So, for a laugh...I challenged people to make a project inspired by this sketch. My good friend Tammy participated in the sketch, and at the momment looks like she won the prize that I will be sending off to her very shortly. You can see Tammy's card here.

However, I wanted to particpate in my own challenge, so this is the card that I came up with!

Crop-Paper-Scissors Spring Bling Challenge

Well, as you read in my previous post my favourite message board server went down for updates at the end of our online crop last weekend! It was terrible! So, all the pictures that I had all ready to go could not be uploaded on Sunday. I know I did leave this to the last momment. I still wanted to post the different projects here, as they were still fun projects to make and were a good "break" from working on my wedding album! The butterfly is from a butterfly swap that I participated in with some friends from the message board. These beautiful butterflies were made by my friend Gloria.

Canadian Scrap And Swap Message Down

So much for a weekend of Crop Paper Scissors at the message board. The sever went down sometime on Sunday that I can recall, and hasn't been up and running ever since! It is absoultely bizarre. I had my projects all ready to post, and I had no access. I haven't been able to even reward prizes to the people who completed my challenges! Too bad! However, I have the prizes ready to go and look forward to doing this when the board is up and running.

I was able to get quite a few layouts done. But, I have a few finishing touches on them until they are officially complete, and ready to post here on my blog!

Stay Tuned!

Ready...Crop - Paper - Scissors

This weekend at my Canadian Scrap and Chat Message board, our group is having an online cropping weekend! The theme of the online crop is Crop - Paper - Scissors. We all have a lot of fun on these weekends, as we are able to crop in our own spaces and get a lot of projects completed. We have fun challenges that we post with prizes and enjoy sharing our own creativity and the creativity of the others on the message board. So in preparation for this busy weekend of cropping...I have been online for the last two hours choosing sketches and photos for some layouts. I have enough photos for seven double spread 12 x 12 layouts. Two of the layouts will be my week three homework for the Alison Davis Sketch Class I am currently taking. I also got a little behind with the class too! So, I have week four readings, videos, and homework to do. However, I wasn't a fan of the sketch that was given to us. So, I may just take the concept taught in week four and apply it to one of the Sketches that I have chosen for one of the double 12 x 12 pages. I am having a blast in the class, and feeling really productive working on my wedding album!

Crop Goals This Weekend.
- Participate in Challenges.
- Complete Prepared 12 x 12 Layouts
- Get Caught up with Alison Davis Class
- Prep Flowers for Swap

Have A Very Scrappy Weekend!

A Memorial Tribute to My Nana

I wanted to post this, but needed to find the right picture to post here! Last weekend was my Nana's memorial service. My Nana was my honourary Grandma. She become one of my Adoptive grandparents from birth onwards, and was very lucky to have her in my life. She passed away March 24th, and her celebration of life made me reflect on what a very special person she was. She was the type of person who made everyone feel special. She was also a person who had experienced lots of hardship in her life with the loss of her only son as a teenager, the loss of her husband, and while coping with a sever arthritis. But, she never allowed these situations interfere with her outlook and attitude towards life. She lived everyday with a positive attitude and used music to support her. I wanted a place to keep and share this special picture of me and her to remind myself of the important of living each day to the fullest no matter what your situation is for the day. On days when I realize that I am not doing this...than I am going to come back to this post and remind myself that it is important to enjoy life no matter what your current circumstances may be!

Thinking of You Card

This card I made for a coworker at work whose father passed away over Spring Break. It has been a tremendous stress for her, and she has opened up to me a little bit about this, so I thought I would make this card for her. I bouth this patterned paper before Spring Break to make some cards, as I really liked the colour choice of the paper, and I love how the papers coordinated so nicely! I used the Mini Monograms cartridge for the large scallop. I cut the bird from the serenade cartrdige, and the beautiful marigold flower came from my talented friend Gloria froma Flower swap that we did last year. I have been not wanting to use these because they are just so beautiful, but I thought this flower coordinated so well, that I just had to use it. The Thinking of you stamp is a stamp from the Micheal's 1.50 section. It is a very simple design, but it works very well

Alison Davis Sketch Class Week 2 Assignment 2: Going to the Chapel

So, I haven't completed the second assignment for week one of my class because I am a little behind. So, I decided to work on Week # 2 assignment.

Details of Assignment:
This week your assignment is to create alayout, from either Sketch #1 or #2, and adjust the photos to fit what you want to use. Here’s a little overview of what you can do:
• Use an enlargement
• Exchange a small group of photos for a larger one
• Use smaller prints in place of larger ones
• Split a 4 x 6
• Add more 4 x 6 photos

Here is my layout:

I added the 5x7 on the left page. I took three different 4 x 6 pictures and split them up and then added the second portrait 4x6 picture on the left page. The hearts were cut out from George. The going to the was cut out from the catridge All Mixed Up. Chapel was cut out from Mini Monograms using my Gypsy to remove the stitch marks that go through the centre of the letter. The Church was from the Wedding Solutions cartridge, and the patterned paper and cardtock all comes from the DCWV stack Black Current.

Alison Davis Week 1 Assignment A

This was my first assignment for my online class. I was a week behind because I was away from my scraproom while on holidays. So, I completed this layout last Monday. This particular layout is refered to as an enhanced layout because I have taken the basic sketch and altered some of the embellishments and layout parts to make this more of my own design. However, the changes that I made have not altered the existing basic outline of the sketch. The sketch is very recognizable.  I used the DCWV Black Current Stack for most of my papers. The chipboard was sent to me from a friend on the message board who is not using these items for her wedding album. The cartidges I used for this layout are Sweethearts, Mini Monograms, and George and Basic Shapes.

A Break From Blogging and What's New with Me!

It has been quite a while now since I have posted here or even made a you tube video! I am stilll very interested in doing this all, but at the same time I am monitoring my dedication to things. I am trying to take steps to allocate my time successfully to all aspects of my life to provide a balanced lifestyle. I have my good weeks and bad weeks, but I took a break from blogger to manage all the other parts of my life. I also got sick around report card time, the week before spring break, so that tooks its toll. I have been on a lovely holiday to Arizona where I acquired a whole bunch of fabulous scrap goodies. I have created quite a few wedding layouts, but didn't do a video to showcase them because creating the video was taking time away from successfully creating multiple layouts. Afterall, my goal is to have my Wedding Album done completed this year. My New Years Resolution was to have the equivalent of a double page layout a week. I think I am progressing very nicely towards this goal, and you will have a chance to see these layouts over the next upcoming posts. Finally, the last thing that is new with me is the fact that I am currently taking a 5-week online scrapbooking class with Alison Davis. She creates fabulous sketches for scrapbooking. You can see more about it on her site.  She also has a series of fabulous sketch books. I currently own sketch books, 5, 6, and 7. I am thinking about getting the rest of her books to complete the series. I don't have any of her card sketchbooks, but I do enjoy using the card sketches off her site.

I have never thought of taking an online class before. But, this one is a lot of fun. I am learning lots. There are three lessons per week and then a homework assignment. I will also be posting these layouts here on my blog! Thanks for stopping by and continuing to follow my blog!
