The Calm Before the Storm

Well, since I started my Master's I am really not sure if there are are really any real quite calm days, but this weekend was more of a more laid back weekend. I had a chance to meet some girlfriends for dinner on Friday night. Then I came home to play and my scrapbook room, but turned out I was just too tired and would rather just visit with my online scrap friends. Saturday was a sleep in day. Absoulutely lovely! I chatted with Mom and Dad, and then endied up doing my homework. I was very excited about Scrapbooking with my cousin Lisa on Sunday. We should really do more of it. I only got about 4-5 pages done, but I guess that is better than nothing. My Alaska photos are almost a year old now. So, I have to get this album done, so that it can get packed, and then I can start on Emma's Baby book, as I have all the goodies to get going on it, but just haven't managed to find time to do it. (This is a shower present for my friend Sara.)

My final project is due in four weeks time, report card are just around the corner, and plus there are always wedding things to plan for and think about. So, I have lots to keep me busy. Here are a few of the layouts I did this weekend.

First Nation Masks

I am playing around tonight with my computer and you tube. I am trying to experiment a little. So, I thought that I would prepare a movie of the paper mache masks that my students made this past May as part of a social studies unit on the Haida First Nations.

Didn't they do a fabulous job?

Program Institue

Friday night was my Master's Program first program institute of the year. We have grown quite big, since I have even started. Here is a photo of all of us! We enjoyed a pizza dinner, introductions, Edtech conversations, and were introduced to a social networking site for just our program cohort. Here is a picture of our group!

Teacher PodCoast

I am always looking for interesting ideas! This was something I came across and I was quite excited about! I thought it was interesting, and it turns out that this teacher is doing a Master's in EdTech. So, I am going to explore further the possibilities for this!

A Teacher's Life Podcast

My Podcast Site

To listen to my podcast clicl on the link beside the little headphones. I chose to read aloud a story. It is a teachery thing to do, but I am trying to brainstorm some ways that I could use this tool for my classroom.

Crisp Cool Air...It must be Fall!

Well, these past few mornings I have been wearing my winter warm coat. It is a real sign that Fall is in the air. I can't believe it! This past year has gone by so fast. It is less than 10 months until Andrei and I are married. Well, tonight I took the time to putter around the house. Do a little cleaning, and have some fun decorating for fall. The cool crisp air inspired me. I love the fall colours, and saw a few little goodies while grocery shopping on my way home from work.

The candles are easy to have because they just get thrown out when I am done with them. The pumpkins don't take up that much space. Just added a few other decorating items that I had around the house and that was it. I am all decorated for fall. I lit the fireplace and candles and my place is all cozy with the scented candles and warm glow of the candle light. Here are some pictures:

Saying Good-Bye to Grandpa

Well, this past weekend was a difficult one for the Sanderson's as we had to say good-bye to my dearest Grandpa. He was such a jokster who saw the best in everyone. I have very fond memories of spending time with my Grandpa. From sleepovers, camping trips, and many special moments over the years. He was the one who told me my first "dirty" joke. Now, I was only seven years old or so, and didn't really get the play on words with "dirty". He started it out, "Hey Rach, do you want to hear a dirty joke?" All innocent I said sure why not! Well, A white horse fell in the mud. Well, both of us were laughing in stitches. It wasn't until I was much older that I got the play on words, but it was still fun laughing with Grandpa! He always had a jolly spirit. He continuted with "Rach, do you want to hear a real dirty joke?" Three white horses fell in the mud! Once again we were laughing in stitches!. I will remember the many games of Kings in the Corner, while camping in the motor home. His enthusasium for dancing, and his encouragement in having me attend the dances and taking me for a few spins along the dance floor. I am happy that he was able to meet my future husband, but I am sad that he won't get to dance at our wedding like he has promised me so many times. But, I will make sure to have some dances for him!

As part of a special tribute for my Grandpa's ceremony, I made this brief video tribute. I wanted to capture my Grandpa's spirit and the families fond memories of him. He was a man of many one liners, and the video is a tribute to him.
