A Look Back at 2012....

I always enjoy looking back at some of my creations and life happenings on this blog over the past year. I enjoy that I have this blog to keep track of my creative and crafty moments because it is very easy to forget what was accomplished or created. I enjoy seeing my sense of design and craft develop and evolve over the years too!

I look at this blog and I have noticed over the years since I first created it that it has evolved into  a crafty journal rather than a space to share the daily happenings of my life. I tried to do this in December with my December Daily posts. But, wasn't that successful because when things got busy I didn't have the time or take the time to document everything. I want to treasure living in the momment also.

The start of the year was a little bumpy last year, so it was very easy to use my crafting as an escape from the thoughts and troubles that were happening during that time.

This year saw two big paid scrappy initiatives. The first one being the craft fair in November. Preparing for this was very time consuming. Enjoyable, but I began working on Christmas projects in the summer. I became "Christmased" out by the time the actual holiday rolled around, so I didn't even send out Christmas cards of my own. Embarassed a little by that. I do not want that to happen again.

The second paid scrappy initiative was creating a wedding album for my sister's coworker. I very much enjoyed both of these opportunities. But, I am now looking forward to returning to my own crafty projects.

I would like to work on some of those looming projects that I have purchased with the best of intentions, but never got around to them! I also want to work on a few mini albums. I look forward to diving into my stash more and using what I have. I have lots of wonderful products, tools and things in my stash to play with and I want to use them in new and exciting ways. I look forward to the new year of creative opportunities. I also look forward to sharing these with you!

Have a Very Happy New Year!

December Daily 2012 - Day 15

Today was another day full of holiday errands. We managed to get lots of our Christmas shopping completed again today! We stopped for a visit at my Mom and Dad's house too! I also worked on the scrapbook album I am completed for my sister's coworker. M LAN is to have it finished for the weekend, so he can come by and pick it up!

December Daily 2012 - Day 14

Wow! This daily posting is so much more difficult then I thought it was going to be! Especially when you are getting prepared for Christmas. Friday evening was dinner out, and then we hit the Mall. We did a decent job of getting people on our list crossed off. Surprisingly, the mall wasn't too bad! We were there until closing. I am having a difficult time coming up with an idea for my sister and her boyfriend. My sister always has high expectations for her gifts! So, it puts a lot of pressure on me! I will figure something out!

December Daily 2012 - Day 13

Today was a very Christmasy evening. I spent the evening at my school's Christmas concert! I was very proud o my class. We sang a Holiday Hoedown! The students wore red christmad cowboy hats.

December Daily 2012 - Day 12

I have been checking the mailbox everyday for this package to arrive! I bought these two cartridges and the Cricut Mats during a Pink Tuesday Sale. (The week of Black Friday) It was a treat because I purchased these with some of my profits from the Christmas Craft Fair that I participated in!

It is a amazing how price of Cricut cartridges has dropped! When I first received my machine the cartridges were regularly priced here in Canada at 119.95. I never paid full price! A deal was 59.99. But, I didn't pay that for very many either! I received many as gifts for birthdays and Christmas gifts and my Mom and Dad got some fabulous US sales!

The Preserves cartridge was 12.00. The Tie the Knot cartridge was 20.00. Great deal and so much cheaper than here at home! Plus, I can't even find these here at home as Michaels only carries the new release cartridges!

Very excited to use to use these cartridges and they came at the perfect time as I work on the wedding gift Album for my sisters coworker!

Redley and I also enjoyed som much needed rest by the Cristmas Tree tonight. I had a warm cup of Hot Chocolate with Whip Cream! It was delicious! There is something so relaxing sitting and watching the Christmas Tree! It reminds me of the Christmas Magic as a child with all the excitement around Santa visits and the Christmas surprises I would find under the tree Christmas morning!

December Daily 2012 Day 11

I would live to say that I have a whole bunch more Chrismas stuff done. But, I didn't manage to do any around home. I wasn't feeling very well when I got home! I have this last little bit of Christmas decorating to do!

It won't take too long...Andrei is patient...I just have to get motivated!

December Daily 2012 - Day 10

December Daily 2012 - Day 9 Santa Photo with Redley

We took Redley to get his picture with Santa! We or a great shot this year and had a lot of laughs.

December Daily 2012 - Day # 8

Today we managed to do a little bit of everything! I rested on the sofa with Redley, as we watched Andrei play his video games!! I did a little pinning and texting!

Later in the afternoon, I finally convinced Andrei to help me put the Christmas lights up on the outside of the house! We keep it simple compared to the neighbours a the end of the cul de sac! There is something so magical about Christmas lights on the outside of the house! it brings so much wonderful childhood memories of going looking at lights!

We then began decorating the inside! Andrei sets up our Chrismtas tree and then I do everything else! Well, except for the 5 manly Christmas ornaments that Andrei puts onto the tree!

Redley was curious about his stockings. It was amazing how he went straight to his stocking before checking out the others!

We didn't get his picture with Santa paws today, but plan on doing that tomorrow!

December Daily 2012 - Day # 7

Christmas Shopping was on the agenda last night! We decided to go hunting for gifts! Andrei made a point of showing me what he wanted for Christmas! Lol...he doesn't like surprises! So, he wants me to buy all the presents that he gets ahead of time! But, not this year!!

I found the coloured snowflakes that I was looking for before the craft fair! They must have not had them out before! So, I stocked up on different colours because I love embellishing them into Elegant Christmas ornaments!

I had a Skype chat with my friend Shannon from Alberta! It was a lot of fun! She crafted away and I tidyed up my scrap space so that I can get it ready for easily working on the wedding album!

Lots of Christmas excitement to look forward to this weekend!

December Daily 2012 Day # 6

Today I have enjoyed a little bit of Christmas Cheer with great company! I met a good friend for dinner at my favourite restaurant My Greek Taverna. I always enjoy going out for a Greek dinner with girlfriends because Andrei dislikes Greek food. It was fabulous dinner, and I have left overs to eat for tomorrow. I love this fact too because I always seem to find it difficult to be productive at making proper lunches this time of year.

I am keeping this post short tonight, as I need to get started on the Christmas present for my sister's coworker!

December Daily 2012 Day #5

Day five went very fast, but ended with a celebration that I have completed my report card journey!

The day ended with a Christmas activity! Tonight was the card class I hosted! It was a lot of fun and all the members of the group had fun making them! I always enjoy seeing people who take what they have and make it their own! It is great to see others enjoying being crafty!!

A memorable part of the evening was one someone mentioned they needed Christmas Music! I was able to use my phone and have jazzy christmad music! It was a lot of fun!!

December Daily 2012 Day # 4

Today I am preparing for Christmas! But, it is a preparation for someone else!! I am making a wedding scrapbook for my sisters coworker! She dropped the pictures off today! Once Andrei headed off to work, I decided to get the photos organized! There were over 100 photos! Various sizes and some black and white and coloured! However, I was able to come up with a theme! It was very exciting!! I was using some of my own completed layouts as inspiration as well as Alsion Davis sketches! However, I am finding that I am able to creat Alison Davis sketches without the sketches!

This weekend I will be decorating, cleaning and scrapbooking!!

December Daily 2012 Day # 3

Well, it certainly feels more like Christmas with each passing day in December. However, everything is on hold in my own home until these report cards get completed. I am not always sure if parents really understand how much time, effort, and energy goes into these. Nonetheless, I am passionate to make sure that they provide parents with the information that they need.

The activity today that made it most feel like Christmas was the rehearsal my class had with the other Grade Four class at school. It was time to practice the actions, and lead the students to do the actions! It took a lot of organizing for the brief song that they do. But, that is okay....it will all be worth it when the classes perform in front of their audience next week.

The other job related item that made it feel a lot more like Christmas was writing the email to parents to let them know of the craft stations that will be set up the last week of school. We will also have a pancake breakfast. These next few weeks are going to fly by!

I recognize that this post is very work related...but that is where my mind has been at all day!

December Daily 2012 Day #2

So this post is already to share! It is more serving as a procrastination purpose at this very moment! One part of my Christmas celebrations is preparing report cards for the 26 students I currently have this year! It is one of those must do December activities. But, the least enjoyed because the time spent working on them infringes on my early December activities and preparations!!

It is this work that pays those Chrismas Bills and purchases!

While on a break I completed making 36 card kits for the card class on Wednesday night! I am pretty excite about this evening! I look forward to sharing the Chrismas Spirit with others!!

December Daily 2012 Day 1

I am going to attempt to do one post everyday leading up until Christmas Day! This is based on a scrapbooking trend of scrapping everyday for the month of December to enjoy all the little things leading up to the BIG holiday!! There are kits available for paper scrapping, but I am going to do a digital December Daily.

Today was a very busy day! So, it was a great way to start off the month because I was doing lots of Christmassy Stuff!

I went to the Christmas Craft Fair! The biggest one in my hometown! It was great going as it brings so many memories! The craft fair has been going on for many years! I went with my mom as a little girl! The Barbie clothes booth is always on the corner! I always wanted my mom to buy an outfit from there! I always admired all the clothes! She is still there only both of us look a lot older than we used too!!

I bought a key chain today! It is wrist band. It is perfect when you are carrying lots of things in your hands! Or to help your keys in your purse! I have used it a little bit today!! I love it!! I also bought some whole wheat shortbread. All the money raised went to Cancer society! After shopping we went for Greek food! Yummy!!

A visit to the Dollar Tree, and I bought this really cute gingerbread box for our scrapbook gift exchange! I pulled my friend Lisa's name and I really had fun with all this project life stuff!! It was fun discovering all the neat things that are available!! The box held the items perfectly and Shannon's 3x3 gift tag matched the box perfectly!!

The evening was a night of crafty time at Gloria's! I was preparing the card kits for the card class on Wednesday! I ran out of crafty projects, so I ended up leaving earlier than I hoped.

Had a good evening with Andrei!

Wow...score...a great deal at Michaels

I am pretty excited! I am going to be creating a 12 x 12 album for my sister's coworker. He is going to give this wedding album as a gift for his wife. Its a surprise gift for her. He is getting me the pictures by next week, and I am going to create an album. I was able to get this album and a refill at Michaels for a great deal. I used a 50% off coupon for the refill. The album was already 50% off. Plus there was another 30% off sale items and coupon items. I am still in shock! I can't wait to get started!

Upcoming Projects to Complete

Wow, I have come off the high of the craft fair. Now I am looking towards upcoming projects that I would like to work on and complete! It doesn't take long to stop and think of the many projects I am looking forward to. I began to make a list on my google tasks last night, but I thought it would be a good thinkg to post on my blog here, so I can encourage myself to be more accountable to this list. I hope that my faithful blog friends will hold me to this list! So I have an immediate list before Christmas, and then I have a list to work on during the holidays.

I also have a combination of paide and unpaid work.

Paid Work:
- Wedding Album (30 pages for one of my sister's coworkers)
- 3 different Christmas card designs (Prep 12 of them)

Projects for Me:
- Complete my own wedding album
- Mini Foldable scrapbook mini ablum
- scrapbook of dayds 65th birthday
- altered composition books.
- lemon grass mini album
- ongoing cards

Organizational Challenges:
- purge more items form my stash that I don't use.
- reorganize my Christmas stuff...
- reorganize my room.
- good dust and clean on the floors.

Yikes!! Only One Week Left of Summer Holidays

Wow...where does the time go! I know us teachers here in BC get 10 weeks of summer vacation. Many of my friends, family, and even my husband are envious of this time off. I sure have enjoyed it! July seems to go by quite slowly. July feels like you have the entire summer ahead of you, and then August hits....and all of a sudden the summer starts flying by! That definitely has been the case this year. The weather these last few weeks have been absolutely amazing. So, being outside is definitely the way to be spending the Hot days of summer.

With only two weeks to go...its time to start thinking about the things I wanted to do the most before summer ends. This includes both crafty time, as well as organization. My closet is just about reorganized...when I walk in...it is hard to believe it is mine! It sure looks better with the the purge and some of the new clothes that I have added!!

Riverside Craft Fair Success

I am very excited to report that I had a very successful craft fair today! I arrived at 8:50 am to set up my display!

I arrived with one large suitcase, one medium size suitcase, two ikea boxes, four paper boxes, a rod, and one silver Christmas tree. It took me an hour to set up! Very tedious! But, I am a perfectionist...so that might have had a lot to do with it!

I didn't have a walk around until about 1:30. I was surprised by the number of paper crafters there were!! Lots of competition! I came back to my table a little defeated! However, I think what saved me is the variety of items that I had!

I enjoyed myself very much! It is such a rush having crafty sales! People enjoying and appreciating my creations!

They came around asking about tables for next year! If I book before April 30, 2012 I get a discount! so, I am definitely considering it! This would give me more time to prepare for next year. We will see....that is a long way away yet!

A Month's Worth of Catching Up

So, I came to look at my blog and check out how long it has been since my last post. I was slightly embarassed when I realized that it has been almost a month . I convinced myself at the start of the school year that I was not going to neglect this crafty blog of mine. However, unfortunately I have not been on here to post projects or participate in challenges. This may lead many of my faithful followers...the few that I have left...lol...that I have not been crafty. However, this is simply not the case! In fact, I have been on crafty overload as I prepare for my upcoming craft fair next week at Riverside Secondary school..

In fact, last wekend, I set up my craft fair display to give myself an approximate idea of how much product I had. You see...I have been storing it away in boxes in my spare bedroom, as I made it. I truly didn't have a clue with how much I had until I actually started setting it up. I haven't counted how many items I have at the momment. But, my worry now is that I hope that I sell it all because I really don't want to take all of this stuff home and store it for another year!

I have all sorts of items that I am selling this year. The list includes:
  • Sock cupcakes
  • Christmas Tree Snowflake Rosette Ornaments
  • Candle Boxes.
  • Vintage Purse Boxes
  • Birthday Box Sets
  • Thank-you Boxes Sets
  • Christmas Card Sets
  • Antibacterial Cleaner Packages
  • Christmas Tag Sets
  • Christmas Gift Card Holders
  • Chrsitmas Gift Card Holders that look like coffee cups.
  • 3x3 card box purses
  • 3x3 card box sets
Lots of great goodies. I can't wait to set it all up and begin selling my creations!

Halloween Tag Challenge

Tam at the Canadian Swap scrap board has started a tag challenge! I am so into tags and have acquired lots if goodies to play with! But for this challenge I used my old stand my cricut for the Tags Bags, boxes and more cartridge and the Mini Monsters cartridge! It was a lot of fun to make something other than a Christmas project as I have been busy crafting just not taking pictures of all my projects because I want to make sure I have enough product to sell at the craft fair!! The craft fair is just about a Month away now! So, I have lots of finishing up to do, and I can't wait to have a craft room that isn't covered in glitter!!

I got my Smart Board and Desk top computer all set up! And some of my materials organized! It looks ready to go for the 25 minutes...I will have the students in my class! Lol...

Ready for work and routine, but will miss my summer freedom also!

Scrapbooker in Training!!!

I invited my girlfriend Tara and her daughter over for a crafty day! Her daughter loves crafting and I don't always get to visit with her daugher. So, at the beginning of summer we said that we were going to definitely do a crafty day!!! Today was the day! And boy is her daugher ever a natural!! I didn't have any project in particular planned! But, I knew that Tinkerbell would be a huge hit! I have had the Tinkerbell Cricut cartridge for a very long time. But, have never cut out Silvermist. These shapes are definitely meant to be put together at this size. ( I used fit to page.  It makes it so much easier to cut and place the layers!

Hunter was a natural. She glittered with pazazz and spread a little fairy dust at the same time. She used the tiny tweezers to place the items down that her Mom glued down. She cut the patterned cardstock behind the picture with fancy scissors.

Although she played it very "cool" throughout the entire project! I think you could tell how very excited she was at the end with her finished project! It was a fabulous afternoon...enjoyed with great company! I knew Hunter was hooked when she was already planning her next project for her next visit!!

Word Verification Removed

Pretty please!

Okay...I am slightly embarrassed to admit this, but I thought I had removed the word verification on my blog ages ago! However, a lovely poster persevered from Tiddly Inks to let me know, after three attempts I might that I had the word verification feature on my blog. Thankyou LoopyLou for letting me know that I had this on, and for commenting on my Tiddly Inks challenge card.

Now, let me tell you. I find word verification a pain in the....(fill in the blank here). I have tried to leave comments on other blogs, but give up if I can't get the word. And ironically, there could be followers out there, or visitors...who actually have done the same on my blog. Therefore, I wanted to make a comment to all of you out there in blog land who have tried to leave a comment, but have totally become frustrated here with this. It has now been removed...and hope that this may encourage a few of you to post now!

Thanks so much for your loyal visits!
I really do enjoy sharing my creations with you all!

Christmas Card 2012 # 9

Since the weather was cool, and Andrei was asleep upstairs! I knew it was time to get crafty in my room. I have had the paper to make these cards sitting to the side. As an attempt to use clear up my studio. I knew it was time to get crafty and make these cards. I made three sets of 4 cards for the craft fair. I just love this little birdie stamp from a Christmas Inkadinkadoo set that I bought three years ago! I saw a card very similar to this at the time, and immediately went on a mission so that I could use this stamp. I knew that I wanted to use this stamp again for this Christmas Craft Fair! So, I whipped up these cards today! Nothing says Christmas like snow, white, and red. The sentiment used on this card is from my new verve set. It was great to begin using those, as I bought them to begin using on my Christmas craft fair projects! I want to make a few more card sets, and then I am going to take a break and work on some pretty packaging of candles to have on my craft fair table!!

Verve August Challenge: Week 3

The weather cooled down, and now I have some time to get crafty!! Loving this opportunity to be in my space! Once again my room has become a disaster!! It is time to tidy it up again to regroup with these crafty projects!

I have so many creative ideas filtering through my mind that I don't know where to start sometimes!! Lol...

Today I was able to complete this card that I started midweek. I have a person in mind that I am going to be giving this card to! I don't consider masculine cards to be my strength! So, I find myself getting hung up in the embellishments! However, after my visit with Gloria yesterday! I had a brainwave! I could use buttons! These work very well! Gloria also convinced me of the importance of buttons that are not naked on projects. (That is using buttons without any fiber or ribbon in the holes. ) I dove into my twine collection, and this is what I came up with!

I have entered this in the verve challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers!

Verve Week 2 Challenge

This summer heat has been strong for a week! Although, it is what we have all been waiting for...it has impacted my "craftiness". My studio is on the afternoon sun side, and this small space of mine heats up fast!!!

Enjoying my own company tonight! I put the fan on and opened the sliding door! Now, I am getting crafty! I said I would make a card for my sister to give to her boyfriend's dad for his birthday next weekend!

I decided to use this verve sketch for the week 2 challenge to make the card! I used the banner stamp by Hamptom Arts instead of the circle die. I used the glitter copper 60 thickers instead of the heart. The Happy Birthday stamp is from CC Designs it is an AmyR stamp
Collection.

Tiddly Inks Summer Challenge

I seem to have had a two day lull in my creations of all good things crafty. I took Sunday to recuperate after my father's surprise party. Monday I took some time to do housework and errands with Andrei. We continue to work on completing our backyard!

I have become quite the night owl throughout my summer holidays, and as an escape from my husbands video game playing I decided to participate in the Tiddly Inks Challenge. The objective of the challenge was to create a Summer inspired cards. It is the last push of this theme before all us crafters have to go back to regular routines and rituals of the school year!

This adorable digital image is Annabelle Sweetness! I paired her with this adorable DCWV pattern paper from the sweet stack! I just love that paper collection! I have been hoarding the stack, but it was time to put it to good crafty use! The ribbon is just from my stash! I created the digital sentiment on word! I don't know what it is lately but I have gone all "punny". :-D

I just can't get enough of puns! I am very much enjoying my crafty time!
