Card Class Prep

I continue to enjoy my crafty time here in my scrap studio! I have so many wonderful things to play with, and the creativity allows me to take my mind to another place and I become so mellow as a result. However, tonights activities were a little bit different. My friend Tara asked if I would come to the group of woman that she works with and do a cardmaking class. This was the same group of woman that I did a Christmas Card class in mid December. They had such a fun time that they asked me to return for a Kid Theme birthday cards. I knew I wanted to use bright and exciting colours. So, I immediately began looking through the papers that I have set aside for children's cards, and as well papers that are very bright and cheerful. I started with the cupcake design yesterday. Cupcakes always work so well for children's cards. I also used my Happy Birthday Cuttlebug embossing folder. I have used that one for quite awhile so it was great to have a chance to pull it out.

The next card was a boys theme card. I wanted to create a dinosaur card. The create a critter cartridge is perfect for children's card. Once again I used my Happy Birthday Cuttlebug embossing folder. Then finally I was having difficulty coming up with a third concept for a card. So, I texted my friend Tara and she suggested a beach theme card. So, that is how I came up with the third design. I used my darling Greeting Farm Stamp, and bright oranges for the design. The final picture shows the process I go through to create the kits. The steps to creating these kits are:
1.) Develop a Design
2.) Create the sample.
3.) Assembly Line the Pieces.
4.) Make sure each ziploc bag has all the pieces for each card.
5.) Package them all up in baggies,
6.) Keep in a tupperware container until class night.
7.) Use a post it note to keep track of any last minute supplies that may be needed for the nite of the class.

Lots of fun! I made 8 kits for each design.
I just hope the woman attending the class enjoy making the cards just as much as I enjoyed designing them!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Crafting!

Gloria's February Challenge

Gloria hosts two monthly challenges over at my favourite online message board! This particular project was completed for Gloria's card challenge. She posts two cards in a month. One on the 1st and one on the 15th. She finds insipiration from all over the web! I recently discovered the Mojo Monday Blog. They have some fabulous card sketches! This sektch comes form their site. I made these cards after I preapred a set of 8 cards for a card class that I have been asked to host for a Single Mom's group. There were some odds and end of coordinating product and the vision came to me for this design sktech. Very bright and colourful, and am thinking that it could be used for any gender. Surprisingly no Cricut for this card. But, I did use the Rosette Die. I had this one premade and it matched the colours of the patterned paper perfectly! This was a lovely surprise! It is always fun to look through my handmade stash to see if something works.

In summary, I was able to create a lot of varied projects over the course of the weekend! It was creative and crafty time that mentally and emotionally was good for the soul and for healing. I really enjoy this hobby very much and am thankful that I have the means to afford this hobby and a space that I can go into daily!

Paper Birdhouse with Jen C Cut File

It was a rainy wet weekend, so it was a very good excuse to stay indoors and create! I had a blast trying out this cut file created by Jen C. You can find many great cut files on her blog http://www.jensbrainthings.blogspot.com/, This particular bird house cut file can be found here. I used American Crafts patterned paper. You can make two of these bird houses out of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper. For those of you that only have the baby bug you can create this adorable house with it also. In fact, I used my baby bug for this project. The roof and the base of the bird house was cut with the Mini Mongrams cartridge, but is all sized and ready for you to go right in the cut file. I decorated the bird house with a bird cut from the Serenade Cricut Cartridge. The greenery came from the storybook cartridge, and the yellow flower came from the the Sizzix Rose Die. However, if you own the Flower Shoppe Cartridge, you could easily make this rose with that cartridge. The only other tool you need to create this project is Cricut Design Studio. However, I am wondering if it might be possible to cut this out with the Cricut Craftroom. If so...that is very exciting for those of you who don't have design studio. Anyways, these were lots of fun to make, and look forward to making many more in the future!!

Let's Get Crafty Use Your Stash Series: Creating a Kit

I can't believe I am on the last part of the Scrappy Purchase Ban. I started the year off stating that I was going to make any scrappy purchases for two months. This has been particularly challenging at times, and last week I had a little cheat because I had a Home Sense Gift Certificate. I went there and bought 25.00 worth of goodies. HOwever, I am claiming that this doesn't count because it was a gift from someone else that didn't know what they got me for Christmas, so I had to go out and buy my own Christmas present. ;-)

However, I am digressing here. I am very excited to launch my new video series! I have chosen to try a series that will encourage others to go shopping in their stash. Each video series will begin with a showcase of a "Use Your Stash Haul Video". I will show all the items that I have collected for the month to use. Then each video in the series will feature a project made with that kit. My current plan (that always evolves) is to create a single page layout, double page layout, minimum of 2 cards, and some sort of 3D project. I want to start using that stash and creating projects rather than hoarding them. Here is the first video in the series. Please let me know if you decide to join me! I would love to see what you create!

12 x 12 Honeymoon Double Page Layout: Bus Trip

On a rainy, wet, and miserable day like it is here in my neck of the woods, there is nothing better to do than to enjoy some crafty time in my Pink Scrap Studio. I am absolutely loving it in this space today! I have been working on a whole bunch of different projects, and as well filming a few videos that I will be sharing over the course of the next couple of weeks. Today I was feeling restless and was contemplating getting out of the house and doing a little shopping. However, I know my car would drive me right to Micheals and I only have 11 days to go before my scrappy ban is over, and I don't want to relinquish my goal at this point! So, instead I decided to come into my room. Do a little tidying up and then do a little bit of creating! I started the crafty time off with a cute little 3D paper bird house. Then was that got me warmed up...I decided to do a video series for the Use Your Stash Haul. I shot the video for that, and expect that it will be airing on my you tube channel later this evening! I then creted a layout with that stash, and an accompanying video. Finally, I created this double page layout for my honeymoon album! It was a lot of fun to create! I am really enjoying using the Alsion Davis Sketches. This particular sketch is from book 8. However, I think I am going to need some 1 page sketches as well, so I am contemplating purchasing her two volumes when my scrappy purchase ban is over! This layout uses a Cricut Cartridge called Lualu. I was lucky to find this cartridge at Micheals for only 10.00. It is a very lite cartridge, but I knew those heads would be perfect for my Honeymoon Album!

All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge Fancy Folds

I had a little bit of fun today while keeping my mind distracted about my big day tomorrow! I really enjoy challenges. This week at my favourite challenge blog site All that Scraps Wednesdays Challenge is hosting a Fancy Fold Challenge. They are looking for participants to make a unique card with some unique folds. I immediately decided that I wanted to make a side step card. I
found this video on youtube to be the most useful! The challenge requires that you use a stamp that is found in the All that Scraps store. I used the CC Designs Kiki Flower Digital Stamp. She was perfect for a spring card. This style of card is fantastic for making a scene card. I have had my my Mom's Bloom Lite cartridge for quite awhile, but haven't used it. I am borrowing it since she has not been "Cricuting" lately. When I borrrowed this cartridge I knew that I wanted to create a project with this fence. I just had to come up with the right design. I am very happy with how this card turned out. The image was coloured with felts from my collection. I used three different cartridges for this project. It took a few hours to come up with the concept and the design. However, I did create a video to show you the process. It is just being uploaded now to youtube! So, come back later to see the complete process of putting the card together.

Use Your Stash Challenge # 1 Part Two

The idea with part two is that you are now actually using the kit that you prepared! No saving the items for that perfect project! You are going to create the perfect projects in the next two weeks. Since we all enjoy creating a variety of projects I don't want to limit you so I have provided three categories. A layout category, card category, and any anything but a card or a layout category. You will need to complete a project from two out of the three categories using the inspiration/sketch provided to you. The purpose is to show you that once you have a kit you can make multiple projects from it. It is really going to be neat to see what everyone creates with the kit, and which categories they chose to create from!

Category # 1:Create a layout with the sketch. You may chose the single page or double page layout. But, please remember if you blog about this to make note of the Sketch Support Sketch and follow the terms of their agreement.

The First Sketch comes from Jana Eubank's Sketch Blog

The second sketch is from Alison Davis Sketch Support.

To get full details of the dimentions of paper and placement. Please visit Sketch support. This particular sketch is # 4 of the two page sketches.

Category # 2

Create a two different looking cards using the sketch. I recently discoverd this blog called MoJo Monday. It has some great sketches and they are challenges over there too! This paricular

Category #3 Anything But a Card or Layout

Make a Tag, Twinchies, Bookmark, 3D project, alterned project with the items from your kit. You have flexibility to do what you would like! You can use it on your other project if you like. But if you could please take a picture of the handmade item seperately.

I think since I am the host...of this challenge. I am going to try and complete projects from all three categories! I will start with the layouts category first, and then I will do the cards category along side the Anything But a Card or Layout. I am hoping to have a lot of fun, and look forward to being inspired by many of my creative friends who are participating in the challenge along with me!

Valentine Candy Cones

I have been making projects, but not taking staged shots of them for my blog! However I do really enjoy sharing my creations on here, as my intent has never been to make my blog like a magazine showcase! However, I am very flattered if you enjoy coming here! I had a lot of fun creating Valentine projects for the two months! My Valentines Kit was definitely the way to go to create lovely themed projects! However, I did reach into a different section of my stash when I decided to use some Kraft cardstock! I have a patterned paper Kraft cardstock collection by recollections called Love Letters. I decided to use that paper for some candy cones! These were made for some relatives and co-workers! They were made with the Tie The
Knot Cricut cartridge that I borrowed from a coworker! I was able to cut
four of these out in a 12x12 piece of paper! It was a little challenging to decorate. So I used these pretty plastic bags from Micheals and shaped them into the cone! I created the tags using the Tags,Bags,Boxes and More cartridge! The stamps were from my Studio G collection! These were a lot of fun to make and were a simple, pretty, and elegant way to give a few chocolate sweets!

Gloria's February Card Challenge

Need a little crafty time to keep my mind off of things! Just checking all the challenges posted at my favourite message board and I thought that I would complete this challenge for a brain break! This was a fun card to make! I love this little birdie and haven't used this stamp near enough! I am keeping this card a blank card for an everyday occasion card!

Lisa's February Sketch Support Challenge

This layout was created for Lisa's Februrary challenge. She encourages us to use a specific sketch from the Sketch Support Website and interpret it for our own pictures. As stated in previous months. I have been chosing to use my honeymoon pictures to create layouts for her challenges. It is a wonderful way to work with different colours from my wedding album that I have put aside for the last couple of months. However, I am ready to get back to it in the next little while. Nonetheless, I have had this layout done for awhile but I just haven't had the opportunity to post it until today. It is a ittle different using such a bright background. I don't usually do that, but it seems to work with the pictures, although the photos don't seem to show up because of the glare of the camera flash. But, you get the idea!

Use Your Stash Challenge

I really enjoy the connections online that I have made online with the message board that I visit. I have been connected with these people for quite some time. We ave really got to know each other over the course of the years we have been sharing our creative journey with layouts, cards, and other projects. As I have posted before, I am currently on a shopping freeze. I am not purchasing any scrap goodies until the end of this month. It has been a very difficult thing to do, when you get all the online flyers, and emails of deals sent right to your inbox. However, I am managing quite well. However, I did buy a small little caddy for tools to kep on my desk, and that is portable for when I go to my friend's Gloria's house for crops. Just maes it easier to manage my work space. An attempt to make it neater...Ha ha...you would never know it right now! I had it so clean, and then all of a sudden it is a mess again. Slowly working on cleaning it up. But, I had to take a break tonight to showcase the new kit I have created for the next month or so!

I thought it would be fun to share my fun with others on the message board the use your stash. So, I have created a Use your Stash Challenge. I am even offering up a prize. There is quite a bit of work involved so I didn't think that people were going to participate. The challenge is arranged into two parts. The first part is gathering your stash, and the second part is to create projects with the stash. I will be revealing what we must do with this kit in a future post here on my blog. I asked everyone to have an array of products. cardstock, pattern paper, letters, and embellishments. I took mine in two shots because I forgot the cricut cartridge font! So, here all the goodies I have gathered. I am going to have a cupcake theme! I a mgoing to keep this baggie together at least until the end of the month. I will choose to either add to it, or I will create a new one. Please come back and see what creations I make with this kit!
