Relief At Last!

Well, I am sitting here at my computer and I seem to be quite relaxed now. I have just completed the major work to all my report cards. I handed in about 18 report cards today, and will hand the rest of them tomorrow. I will probably have a few changes here and there, but the majority of the work will be done. It took me a total of 9.5 hours this time. That is the time I took to sit down and physically do the report cards and individualize them. This does not include the time I took to make the template and all the assessment and evaluation that went into this! So, it feels good to get this done. But, now I have a whole bunch of housework to get caught up on! Spring Break feels like its now on its way!

Yipee!

Six New Cards!

As my treat, once I was finsished the grade two report cards I made some cards tonight. I have only posted four cards because three of the pink/green flower cards all looked the same, except they have different sentiments on them. The best thing about all these cards tonight were the fact that they are using up my scraps of paper that I never know what to do with and can't throw out. The only paper that is new is the paper needed for the card shell.

Thanks for Lookin!

Report Card Update!

Today was day one of completing my report cards. I have decided to keep track how much time I have spent on report cards today, and compare this to how much time it took me last year. I started my report cards today at 9:30 am. I worked on them in intervals. I was able to take a lunch break with my friend Sara, and a quick errand break to walk around and get out of the house . I spent about 4hours and 25 minutes on my report cards today. What does that mean you ask in terms of getting them done? I completed all the grade two reports in my class. I have learned that taking the time to really make a template, and do all the assessment ahead of time really helps to get the report cards done realtively painlessly. But, don't get me wrong it still isn't a piece of cake. My goal for tomorrow is to have all the grade three reports done, except for the math, as I need to make sure that I have enough assessment from the students who were away!

All Postings are Now Welcome!

Hey all you visitors to my blog. I have been playing around here on my computer tonight, and trying to figure out how all of you who are not memebers can give your comments here on my blog! I think I have finally figured out how to do this! So give it a try and see if it works, and email if it doesn't!

Thanks for stopping by!

Making Cards

One would think that after my last post, I would be spending time here tonight on my computer working on report cards. But, no these were not the types of cards that I was working on. I continue to take care of my mental wellness, and not think about report cards tonight. I was working on a different kind of card project. I was invited to a card making house party. It was a lot of fun! There were about 14 of us I think. Not to sure, but it was a great idea. The Card maker demonstrater comes to the house and for 17 dollars you get about 2.5 hours of fun and you come away with five cards. She had products to sell there, but there was no pressure to buy anything. It was a great idea. Of course I couldn't leave without buying one new thing that caught my eye. That was a set of 13 foam stamps that were saying stamps that would be great for the cards that I love to make.

Taking the card class tonight has definitely got me in the card making spirit again, and once these darn reports are out of the way, I will be able to let the creative juices start going and make some more cards.

Thanks for inviting me Tara! It was a lot of fun, I just hope you are feeling better!

Frazzled By Report Cards

Well, here it is crunch time, and this is where my mental wellness really gets tested. It is that time again when I need to get the report cards ready to be sent home. Some how this term, they have just snuck up on me. I actually thought that I had this weekend and next weekend to work on them. But, it turns out that I just have this weekend to work on them. I guess technically I should have worked on thme last weekend, but I wasn't in the psychological mind set to do this. Awg! I did however create my report card template. The time and energy that I put into my template, I am hoping will pay off when it comes time to actually working on my reports this weekend, as the nuts and bolts are there. It will just take some time to do the personaling with student behaviour and openning comments.

I just get so exhausted these three reporting periods. I am trying to maintain a meaningful and purposeful program in the class, and try to make sure all the data for reports is collected and then the reports are written in the evenings and on my weekend when I am suppose to be having down time. And then return to work the following week, all bright eyed and energetic! Yeah right!

Well, it feels good to vent!

The good news out of all this is that I gave my template for my principal to read over the comments, and she had nothing but positive comments to say about my template. She even said that she couldn't wait to read them because the content in them is so thorough and individualized. I actually think that this is the only thing that is keeping me going.

Jenn's 21'st Birthday!

Well, we celebrated another milestone today for Jenn's Birthday. We have possibly started a tradition, as we celebrated Jenn's birthday at Joey Tomato's again this year! We even had the same table as we had last year! However, as Jenn's email read a lot has happened since then. Marriages, Separations, Three Babies, More travelled, Engagement, a Homeowner. I have definitely come to a point in my life where there are a lot of life changes that are happening around me and I have experienced too. I am the new homeowner of tonight's group, as it was this time last year that I was still living at home. It is amazing the type of changes that can happen in a year! If we continue on with this tradition, I wonder where we will be in our lives next year, and what has changed besides the babies growing up!

It was a fun evening and great food!

Happy Birthday Jenn!

Playing Catch-Up

I can't believe it has been two weeks since I have posted here on my Blog. I have been very busy it seems lately, but at times have difficulty keeping track of where all my time is going.

In particular, over the last couple of days, I seem to be running late for everything. I have all the intentions of getting to where I need to go, but somehow a minor hitch occurs, and I am late. Now you would think that this may be the case because I am tired and not making sure that I am meeting my New Year's Resolutions. But, "No". I have consistently left at 3:30 since the second week back to school. But, then I have been starting to wonder, if this time change is affecting my schedule at work and then my schedule at home? This is what I will be keeping track of over the next little while, as it seems like the big job at work and at home this week has been playing catch-up with cleaning. Organizing at school, and cleaning and laundry at home. I hope to have this all completed by the end of the weekend, so that I can start all fresh again for a new week.

A new goal that I have added to the Mental Wellness goals for 2006 have been joining a running club. It isn't an official one or anything, but is a group of girls who run here in PoCo. However, I really need more practice, as I was barely able to keep up. We are suppose to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it didn't happen on Thursday, and next Tuesday is Valentine's Day so we are on hold to wait and see what happens there.

It is good to be back bloggin!

Cheers!
