Bridal Shower Album Completed

So, I have finally completed my Bridal Shower Album! And let me tell you it feels so good to be scrapbooking again! I had so much fun creating these pages. This book was a lot of fun to make, as I was able to use a variety of sketches. I really enjoy using sketches, as it takes the guess work out of figuring out the arrangement of the photos on the page. It allows you to focus on coordinating papers and embellishments. I absolutely loved using my cricut to do this! I feel like this album really demonstrates how much my scrapbooking has improved by having the cricut to create perfectly sized embellishments. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 36: Straight From the Nest Series: Bird Nest

I have finally been able to update this on the blog, and I am sorry it took so long to do! However, here it is! Please check out Sarah's Creation at LiveLovendScraps

Challenge with LiveLoveandScrap

Hey Everyone! Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog. Right now I have a challenge on with Sarah from Live Love and Scrap I have been making videos on the Straight From the Nest Series. My Cricut Idol is Sarah and the work that she does with her scene cards had commented on one of my videos saying that she should really use the Straight From the Nest Cartridge More often. So, I challenged her to let's make a card with the same cut, and she agreed to do this challenge with me. Yeah! Isn't that so exciting! She chose the cut, and now we are both to make a card using that Nest cut. She is so quick and had it posted on Thursday already and you can see it here.

She even has a fabulous tutorial with all the cuts if you are interested as well. I was unable to get mine posted before leaving for out of town because we had to take our four month old puppy unexpectedly to the vet before going on the plane because he has a really bad cold/cough and we didn't want to take any chances. The puppy is okay, but I wasn't able to post the project and the video before we left like I planned! So, please be patient and I will post the card and video as soon as I get home!

My Little Sketch August Challenge

I have been having the most fun doing 12 x 12 scrapbook pages again! I haven't scrapbooked this size in three years, so I feel revitalized and excited to be really Scrapbooking again. Today was no exception as I was able to complete 8 12 x 12 layouts. I used sketches foun donline, and then my own designs to complete the pages. However, by chance...I came across this blog called My Little Sketch Blook. It has the most beautiful sketches, and capture some of the designs that I have seen online when looking at others 12 x12 layouts. This particular sketch struck my fancy, and it turns out that this site is also a challenge blog. So, I decided to use this sketch for my Bridal shower album. I had a lot of fun using this sketch, and I was able to use my Cricut Expression to the potential when cutting out those big circles.

Materials Used:
Cricut Expression & Personal Cutter
Design Studio
Home Accents
Plantin School Book
George and Basic Shapes
Sweet Hearts Cartridge
Misc. Stickers from Dollar Store
5 x 7 Photograph
ColorBok Sweet Blossoms Paper Pack

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit my layout!

Congratulations Expecting Card

We just found out this week that friends of ours are expecting. The Dad-to-Be actually works with my husband, so I quickly made this card up for the couple, so that my husband could give it him when he sees him at work! This card features the expectant mother cut from the New Arrival cartridge cut at 5.5 inches. I liked it cut out in black to have a shadow or silhouette feature. The stamp is a studio g stamp. These stamps found at the Micheals 1.50 section are fantastic for card sentimetns!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 35 Straight From the Nest Series A Little Birdie Told Me

I am just loving the Straight From the Nest Cartridge right now! So many great cuts, I just don't know where to start. This card is a scene card. Sarah over at Love Love and Scraps, see the owl button to the side makes a lot of interesting and very pretty cards that have a scene. So, I wanted to give one a try! I built it using my design studio. The card measures 5.5 by 7.75. It was a lot of fun to make a card that is bigger than the A2 size card. More options and creativity. However, all the cuts for this card were designed so that those of you without Cricut Design Studio will be able to create a similar card! Please post back to this and let me know if this card inspired one of your own projects!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 34 Straight from the Nest Series: Owl Birthday Card

I have been busy in my room today getting cards made for various birthdays and events coming up! It has been a lot of fun to create! This card was made completely with all cuts from the Straight From the Nest Cartridge. The design for this sketch was designed with Gloria's Card Sketch from over at the Canadian ScrapN Swap message board! I just love that darling little owl! Thanks for checking out my card!

Odds and Ends

I did spend some time in my scraproom today, but I don't have anything really as of yet to show for it. I did a lot of house work today, and then escaped to Rocky Point Park with Redley this afternoon. We went on a very big walk. When I came back I began work on a paper bag pregnancy journal album for a couple that we know who will be expecting their first child. However, I thought I could have it done for tomorrow for my husband to give it to his friend at work to give ot his wife. However, it was beginning to feel too rushed, and I felt it would not be my best work. So, I put it aside, and will come back to it at a later time!

However, I was able to clear off my scrap counter, and finish the odds and end projects that were there, as well as label my new cricut cartridges in my storage system. I also found these great pink binders at Superstore that will store my studio g stamps, and I labelled those. I just had too many of them to store in the paper magazine holder. I have divided them up into sections, and I am very happy how it looks on my shelf, as well as ease of use. However, I have no completed crafty project to show you. I know I don't have much time left to create. But, this little clean up and using what I have has me looking through the goodies that I have and trying to use them with existing projects. This has me racing with ideas. However, at the same time I really need to get some christmas cards done!

My scrap desk is a disaster at the momment. So, once that is cleared off...I think I will be ready to strat creating again. Because as of right now I just can't create in these conditions!

Got My Mojo Back..3x3 Card Box and Matching Cards

After my blog post last night... I was deterimined to stay in my room and create something. So, with patience, I puttered around and looked for inspiration on the Internet, and came up with this project! I am very happy with the results! I made everything for this project...including the 3x3 envelopes. I packaged everything up nicely and put it aside for a gift for the fugure when you need something quick. I chose the A Little Birdie Told Me Quote because then you can use the card for simply any celebration.

My Retirement Card @ Mom's House

I was hunting for curtains for my scraproom today! But, I had no luck with the curtains. Then my Mom wanted to make a card. There seems to be a pattern here. I made a retirement card as well. Keep in mind my Mom has limited supplies, and we only had five cartridges to work with, and my Mom's paper style is very different from mine! The pattern paper we used is from the slab stack. I am not sure what number it is but it has all Psychodelic patterns on it. But, it was still fun to play! We are both loving the Calligraphy Cartridge right now. It has some great cuts on it! My mom doesn't have a lot of sentiments for stamps, so we used the cricut for the sentiments on both of our cards. I am not sure of the size for each of the cards, as we made the cards sized to fit the larger envelopes that Mom had in her collection. Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe:

Grey Cardstock
Patterned Paper
Leafy Brach Cut at 3 inches from Calligraphy
Flowers cut at 1 inch for small flowers and 1.5 inches with various cut features.
Adventure Cut at 3 inches from Life's A Beach Cartridge

Another Card at Moms

I was visiting Mom and we needed a couple of retirement cards, this was the one my Mom made!

Trying to Get Motivated

Well, since my husband has had is five days off I have done lots of house chores whether it be inside the house or out! Throughout all that I have been looking forward to coming to my scraproom to create and now ibis at my desk ready to play, but I am exhausted! I need to tidy things up here and there too! But I don't seem to have the energy! I seem to go online and just look at others creations!

Unexpected Card Night with Mom

I meant to post this sooner, but I was having difficulties. This is my first post that I have sent from my Iphone! I took the picture of the card while visiting my Mom, and I didn't have a camera, but wanted to mark the occasion with a card! I wasn't planning on making a card, biut my Dad and husband were busy drywalling. So, we thought it would be fun to play with the cricut. My Mom had all her scrapbook stuff set up on the table, so we decided it would be a lot of fun to play! Of course we always have laughs, and at times I feel like it is retro scrapping because my Mom doesn't have all the fancy stuff as she calls it that I do. But, we always have some laughs, and I teach her a few things along the way, as she does to me! I have a great Mom!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 32: Diaper Bag Thank-you Card

For this project I was inspired by Sarah from LiveloveandScrap. She created a diaper bag card from the Doodlecharms cartridge using her Cricut and Gypsy. I do not have a Gypsy.(Gasp...) I know I do have a lot of other great tools, but not the gypsy. However, I do have Cricut Design Studio...so this is how I made this project! The specific measurements for each of the cuts can be found on her blog, so please visit her there for the details! However, the twist with this card is that I made it for my Sister in Law who is expecting in November. I thought this would be a great little hostess gift when we go and visit them in Calgary.

I am going to do a series of cards using this cartridge, so please stay tuned for more creative cards using the Straight from the Nest Cartridge.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge # 22

Well, I haven't particpated in any challenges in awhile, as I have been busy with projects that didn't fit any of the themes of the different challenges that were going on. However, today I decided to finally start a page for my Bridal Shower Album. Yes a year later after the shower I am starting it. But, you know what...it feels great because I have no more homework hanging over my head guilting me away from my scraproom. This week the challenge was to create a project and included the word "Smile". I thought this title would work very well with my album. The Paper is from the Colorbok sweet blooms paper pack. I bought it especially to work on this album. Love all the pretty papers and how coordinated they are.

Cricut Cuts:
Large Scallop - Mini Monograms Cut at 10.5 inches
Friends - Mini Monograms Cut at 5.25 inches
Pink Flower - Paisley Cricut Cartridge - Design Studio

Smile - Disney Font Cartridge - Design Studio

Thakns so much for stopping by!

Gloria's Butterfly Swap

Gloria at the Canadian Scrap N Swap is hosting a swap. There are 11 of us in this swap! We were to make three butterflies per person. I made this out of chipboard, and black and pink cardstock. We had to embellish them in at least two ways. I inked the edges of the butterfly wings on the chipboard. I embossed the butterflies with my textile cartridge, and put the pink rhinestone on! I am happy with how all 33 turned out! I can't wait to see the rest of them when they flutter to me in the mail!

Strawberry Card Set

I have wanted to make this set for a while. I have a friend of mine who loves strwberries, and her nickname is strawberry girl. However, it is very hard to find things with strawberries on them because it is often cherries. So, this set of four cards were made with her in mind!

Let's Get Crafty # 29 My Recent Scrap Haul

Let's Get Crafty # 28 Quick Card Kit Card

Needing something to get my in the Crafty Mood today, so I started with this card from my card kit! Quick and easy, and ready to go in my reserve for when i need a quick card!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 27: Creating Card Kits

Since I have been doing some more 12x12 scrapbooking, and being more brave and using pape from my stash. I have been having smaller scraps that I just can't seem to throw out. So, I have created some card kits, and now store them in this adorable pink basket, and when I have a few minutes to get crafty, I can chose a bag and create a project without making a huge mess by pulling out all of my tools. So, I thought I would share a video of how I create the kits, and then show you a quick and easy card that I can make using that cartridge!

Snowboard Bella Christmas Card

Well, I decided to get crafty in my scraproom this evening, and I made six of these Christmas Cards. These stamped images I got from my friend Lisa at the Canadian Scrap N Chat Board. We did an image swap. I gave her some images that I had and she didn't and vice versa. I really like this particular stamp, as it is so verstaile it could be for a Christmas Card, Winter Wishes, or possibly even a winter birthday. I coloured all of these with my Bic Markers. I used my coluzzle to cut out the images. I inked the edges in purple, and used a studio g stamp from my collection. I cut out he snowflake from the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut Cartridge at 1.75 inches. The border punch is a Martha Stewart Goo Punch. But, I thought it kinda looked like icicles. However, in hindsight, I probably habe the icicles going in the wrong direction! But I still think the card turned out great. Oh yeah one last thing... I used a Marvy Snow Pen to make the snow and pom poms on the boots and hat. You use your heat gun to heat up the liquid and it puffs right up! Lots of fun!

Haven't Heard Yet!

I don't have any craft projects to post today! I have been busy getting caught on housework that was put on hold while I was busy with school. However, often I use the summer holidays as my opportunity to give the home a big overhaul and clean, but this time it is taking me a little longer than usual. I have been waiting to hear back about my exam. But, still haven't heard. On Monday it will be a two weeks since I submitted my exam. I can't wait until this is all done and over with and I have officially heard the news!

Let's Get Crafty # 26: Whimsical Mushroom Card with Miss Anya Dress Stamp

I have had this vision for a card for awhile, but never sat down to make it. So, I thought I would shoot a video, and make the card. The fist one I made was the dark blue mushroom, and then I experimented from there. I tend to be a paper hoarder, so I have been trying very hard lately to use my pretty papers that I have to make different projects. I think I am very happy with the success of them. I liked the Mushroom once I started playin gwith the cuts and embossing them. It gives them a little more interest. However, next time to give the embellishment even more interest, I would like to use some chalks and inks. I am used to having so little time to scrap that I take short cuts here and there. But, now I know it isn't necessary, as I have lots of time to be in here!

Plantin School Book White Purse with Bird

I have been enjoying my new pink expression. It was one of my best cricut purchases to date. I have been using it so much that I already had to replace a blade! Yes, it is working non stop. So, I love making 3D projects, they are fun to make. I made this one for a special person who is having a birthday in the very near future. So, I have an idea of what kind of goodies it will hold, so I thought it woudl be fun to make this trial purse into a real project. I like how it turned out

Thank-you Fair Card

I spent some time in my room making a few cards and a video! However, it seems to be taking longer than usual to upload the video. So, I will be patient, and post some of my other projects that I have been making. This particular card was made using some of my scraps from my scrap drawer. It is starting to overflow, so I decided it was time to do something about it!
