My Birthday Cake

Yes another year has come and gone! I am another year older, but apparently not too old for a Tinkerbell cake. My sister made this cake for me. She is quite into cake decorating these days, and wanted the challenge of this cake. She is all self taught! Didn't she do an amazing job. She bought a special cake pan, and then some special cake food colouring to get the colouring perfect for the flesh and the hair.

The cake was delicious too! She put some chocolate filling in there

It has been quite a while since my last post, and since I have spent a significant time in my scraproom. I have been organizing my clear stamps. It is going very slowly because I am trying to track down the thick CD cases. But, so far I am very happy with this storage method!

The other reasons why I haven't been in my scraproom much, is that I have a lot of catch up with things here since putting things off from my course work. I had that bad cold that took a week to get over, and now I am trying to get organized for report cards and my exam this summer. So, I would like to do some more creating, but need to tidy up this space a little. I have a couple projects on the go that I am really excited about. Please check out Weddings with the Cricut on Tuesday, as my next project is going to be featured on there!

Head Cold...Blah....

I have a really bad head cold at the momment, so I have not been in a very creative mood. So, I just spent the last hour cleaning up my scraproom. I have to get caught up on mailing projects, and then I think I will take the day off from creating today, as I have some friends coming over for a movie night tonight, and the sun is just to spectacular to not go outside.

Weddings with the Cricut Designer

I have some great news! It has been in the works for awhile, but I didn't want to make the announcement here on my blog until I knew it was official. I have been selected to be a design team member on the blog: "Weddings with the Cricut" I submitted some of my own wedding projects, which I will be featuring here on my blog in the next couple of months. I never had an opportunity to do this when I was going through the wedding process. But, thought it would be a great way to lead up and reminisce as Andrei and I approach our First Wedding anniversary. Many of these projects and new ideas that I have will be featured on the Weddings with the cricut blog!

Let's Get Crafty: Episode # 19: DIY Glimmer Mist

This past weekend. I spent some time researching how t omake your one Glimmer Mist. There are many fabulous tutorials on You Tube, and in Blog Land. However, many of them involved buying special items that end up increasing the cost of the homemade product. Well, I experimented and took a little bit of this and a little bit of that from the online recipes and came up with my own. I used acrylic metallic paints and modge podge. The results are fantastic. In this tutorial you will actually have a chance to see the difference between the Store Bought Version of Glimmer Mist and my homemade version, and there is absolutely no comparison. The homemade is more shimmery, and even the camera picks this up so much easier! Try your own, and come back and tell me how you did.

MIA -- For A week

Yes, I have been missing in action from blogging this past week. But, just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean I haven't been creating. This week I made four more cards. I sold my first set of 20 cards. All earnings are going towards my savings formy cricut pink expression machine. I have a new counter to keep track of this item I also completed my flower swap flowers. I had to make 21 of the same pink flower. I packaged them all up, and I am ready to give them to the swap host Dolly this weekend. I just hope they don't get crushed in the mail. That would be devastating.

NSD Card Creation: Thanks a Latte!

I had two pieces left from the one 12x12 sheet that I purchased at the clearance section of my LSS Precious Memories. I was delighted to use this one sheet to make 6 A2 size cards. I made two of these Thanks a Latte Cards. I packaged one up to sell, and one to give to a special someone in the future.

I was exploring another feature that I learned with Cricut Design Studio today. The cup cuts out into pieces all at the same time. One is the steam and one is the cup. If I didn't have Cricut Design Studio I would have to waste a cut to get the steam in a different colour that would also cut out the cup. But, with Cricut Design Studio I can chose which piece I want to cut. So, I thought I would create a thankyou card with this cute little coffee cup and saucer. Thanks so much for stopping by!

NSD Use A Swap Item Challenge

I am currently hosting a few challenges over at the Candian Scrap and Swap forum. One of the swaps is to use your swap items in a creation of your choice. This card was inspired by one that I saw out on display at the Langley scrapbooking store in Langley called Precious Memories. I wanted to make a card like it, and thought that these cupcake deco squares would be just the item that I needed! Fun card to make! the measurements of the paper before the fold is 8 x 9!

National Scrapbook Day Banner Challenge

Over at the Canadian Scrap and Swap Message Boards we have been mocking the Banners that seem to be on all the layouts. It is one of the trends of the momment. Andrea has made the most fuss. However, she posted a challenge to encourage all of us to make a banner card or layout. I chose a card because I am on a complete card marathon at the momment with all the cards that I have made. So, with that in mind I chose to make a banner layout, and thought a masculine birthday card would be fantastic. Thanks to my Cricut Design Studio I was able to make my own banner! Thanks so much for stopping by! I actually made two of these cards. I have packaged one up to sell at the Craft Fair in November, and one to give to someone special in the near future.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

To all my fellow scrapbookers! I would like to wish you all a very Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Today has been a super scrappy day. I got a lot of projects done.

I made a set of these four pink and brown cards. The paper was on clearance at the scrapbooking store, and I bought one sheet because I thought it would make some pretty cards.

I then made 10 of these Happy Nurses Week Cards. I was so pleased as I learned a new function on my Cricut Design Studio, so that I could make my own welded words. Very pleased with the progress!

It has been a great way to spend a Saturday!

Looking around my desk...suggests that it has been a productive day and I have some clean up to do now before I begin any more projects!
