Dog Walking Afternoons

We had two great walks on the weekend! There are some great walks on SFU Mountain. I felt like a Billy Goat on Saturday. We were climbing on a pretty steep trail, and went up pretty high on the mountain. It ended up being a 2.5 hour walk. We didn't get back to the house until 8:30, so I was a little hungry and light headed to say the least. However, Wendy's hit the spot. We tired out poor Rocky! He is seven years old, so he isn't what he used to be. He slept the whole night and slept in the next morning, as he didn't wake up Andrei's Mom for breakfast until 10:00.

Demonstration Teacher

Well, this week has been a very busy week! I can't believe that it will actually be Friday. I initially felt like Friday was never going to come, but some how it has almost arrived. Sunday started with me attending a conference all about reading in my school district. I was up early Sunday morning at about 7:30a.m and didn't get home until 5:00pm. So, let's just say it was a busy day. However, it was a good one else well. Lots of learning in great workshop sessions. Monday, I was in a collegues classroom and together we were demonstrating the process to teachers who are new to this way of teaching reading and writing. However, at the same time we were also asking many different questions to the teachers. Monday afternoon Emily and I answered more questions about what the teachers observed. Then finally on Tuesday morning we demonstrated again together. This was quite the big risk because I was in a teachers class with students I have never worked with and working side by side with a teacher in front of teachers who paid a lot of money for the conference. However, it all worked out in the end and we had tons of positive feedback from all the different teachers that came into our demonstration class! But, this intensity at the beginning of the week as tired me out, and I am looking forward to a restful weekend!

Canadian Swap Card Challenge

Well, I have been busy creating lately in my scraproom and loving it! I made this card for the card challenge. I sent two papers away to be stamped and mailed back to me. I had to make a card with the image that was sent. This is the card that I made! I had a lot of fun playing with black and white papers!

Well, it is official. You are visiting the Blog of a future graduate student. I received my letter in the mail yesterday stating that I have been admitted to the Educational Technology and Learning Design Masters of Education Program at Simon Fraser University. I have been waiting for this program to begin, and was waiting with anticipation since I submitted all my paper work back in February. I was very nervous and jittery while openning the envelope, and there was a rush of excitement after I discovered I was accepted. I gave notice that I am accepting the offer and further information will be sent to me sometime in June.

I will be able to complete this program while still working fulltime. So, I will have my hands full over the next two years. However, I will be exploring a wide range of technology and look forward to implementing this with my students!

My program starts in September of this year!

I'm in Love with a Bug!

Well, not a real bug, but my Personal Electronic Dicut system that is called Cricut! I received this scrapbooking cardmaking toy for Chrismtas. I have had some time to play with it. But, I haven't had a chance to really make anything with the itmes that I was cutting. So, today it was I got to play in my tidied craft room. The reccent push to use the machine came when I purchased two new cartriages for my machine over spring break. I made all these cards today with items from my Cricut machine. (If your wondering why I made so many "It's A Girl Card" is because my friend Tara just reccently had a baby, and I was inspired to make a special card for the event. But, I went crazy with the diecutting and ended up making a whole bunch! Now, the trick is I just have to have some friends who have lots of girls!
