Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank-goodness for long weekends! This past week was a busy week for sure, but I am in a lot better place this year as far as exhaustion goes then other years, so I must be getting better at the whole managing my time thing! This week was a particularly busy week, as I was at work until 6 o'clock three nights and 5 o'clock the fourth night. Meetings galore and meet the teacher interviews. Whoever says that teaching is a 9:00-3:00p.m job has definitely not known a teacher.

Well, I gave my students the traditional"What are you thankful for?" journal entry yesterday, and it was great to see all the things that my students were thankful for. In particular, with one of my new students who finds school to be a real challenge, and he said he is thankful for school. So, this got me thinking to all the things that I am thankful for, so I thought I would answer my own question that I gave my students.

There are many things in my life to be thankful for, but some of them to be honest I take for granted because they have always been there for me. The most important thing that I am thankful for is my family. My Mom and Dad have helped me to reach many of the life goals that I have because they raised me in a loving, caring, nurturing, and consistent environment with clear rules and expectations. I am also thankful for my caring sister, who I get along with so well!! We have our moments, like every other sibiling, but it is great that we can get together and have a good laugh!! I am also thankful to have grown up with an extended family where I get to visit with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on a regular basis, eventhough at times we have to deal with family politics.

I an very fortunate to have a caring group of friends. They are all very supportive through lifes ups and downs, and always are fun to be with. They make life an fun adventure! Without them I would not have girl movie nights, rollerblading, running group, lovely dinners out, getaways like Seattle or Whistler, spa nights, card and scrapbooking parties, walks, runs, coffee shop talks, or girls' nights out.

I am also very thankful for my career, as it gives me excitement in my life and I am able to support myself and my lifestyle with the wage that I earn. There are not many people my age who have degrees and live in an apartment on their own, that they own on their own. So, I believe I do have a lot to be thankful for because I know that there are people who don't have all these things and at times I take some of these luxuries that I have become acustomed to for granted.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
