Lisa's February Sketch Support Challenge

This layout was created for Lisa's Februrary challenge. She encourages us to use a specific sketch from the Sketch Support Website and interpret it for our own pictures. As stated in previous months. I have been chosing to use my honeymoon pictures to create layouts for her challenges. It is a wonderful way to work with different colours from my wedding album that I have put aside for the last couple of months. However, I am ready to get back to it in the next little while. Nonetheless, I have had this layout done for awhile but I just haven't had the opportunity to post it until today. It is a ittle different using such a bright background. I don't usually do that, but it seems to work with the pictures, although the photos don't seem to show up because of the glare of the camera flash. But, you get the idea!

Use Your Stash Challenge

I really enjoy the connections online that I have made online with the message board that I visit. I have been connected with these people for quite some time. We ave really got to know each other over the course of the years we have been sharing our creative journey with layouts, cards, and other projects. As I have posted before, I am currently on a shopping freeze. I am not purchasing any scrap goodies until the end of this month. It has been a very difficult thing to do, when you get all the online flyers, and emails of deals sent right to your inbox. However, I am managing quite well. However, I did buy a small little caddy for tools to kep on my desk, and that is portable for when I go to my friend's Gloria's house for crops. Just maes it easier to manage my work space. An attempt to make it neater...Ha ha...you would never know it right now! I had it so clean, and then all of a sudden it is a mess again. Slowly working on cleaning it up. But, I had to take a break tonight to showcase the new kit I have created for the next month or so!

I thought it would be fun to share my fun with others on the message board the use your stash. So, I have created a Use your Stash Challenge. I am even offering up a prize. There is quite a bit of work involved so I didn't think that people were going to participate. The challenge is arranged into two parts. The first part is gathering your stash, and the second part is to create projects with the stash. I will be revealing what we must do with this kit in a future post here on my blog. I asked everyone to have an array of products. cardstock, pattern paper, letters, and embellishments. I took mine in two shots because I forgot the cricut cartridge font! So, here all the goodies I have gathered. I am going to have a cupcake theme! I a mgoing to keep this baggie together at least until the end of the month. I will choose to either add to it, or I will create a new one. Please come back and see what creations I make with this kit!

Snuggles with The Pooch

So, I have had a little more extra time on my hands that I wasn't expecting, so I have been enjoying my snuggle time in the chair with my 60 pound lap dog! He enjoys coming up on the chair with me, snuggling and having a little nap! I sure enjoy having a dog!

Lisa's January Sketch Challenge

I just squeaked this one in. Over at my favourite message board Canadian Scrap and Swap...we are given a Sketch Support Challenge at the begininng of the month. My very good friend Lisa puts on this challenge. We have a month to interpret that challenge and complete the sketch. Usually, I start this right away. But, this month I have been having so much fun with my Valentine project that I never got around to making this project. Since the deadline is near. Everyone has been putting up their interpretations over at the board. I thought I better get mine done too! This was a great sketch to use up scraps. The bottom section is an array of pattern paper cut out at different sizes to perfectly line up. It works great for using up scraps. I recently had used this paper pad in a kit exchange and there were a lot of odds and ends of pretty paper. It was great that I was able to use this up for this layout. I am really happy with this layout as it used a whole bunch of different cartridges. The gypsy is great as I could cut them all out on one Mat with scrap paper. The special is a chipboard piece that I received in a use your stash kit exchange. I have been using all the goodies from that baggie that it is almost empty. This was a great way to get crafty with new items without going out and buyingsomething!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge # 95 Label It

This week over at my Favourite Cricut Challenge blog...Fantabulous Cricut they are hosting a challenge called Label It. The idea is that you create a project using a label shape other than a plain circle!

Well, this challenge called for the use of the Elegant cartridge. This is one of my all time favourite cartridges! I would have so say it is the best investment of a cartridge I have made! I bought it to use instead of the Spellbinders Nestabilities. Better value with this cartridge!

This card was made during my virtual IPhone crop with my friend Lisa G who has also joined in this week for the challenge. We were suppose to get together but do to extenuating circumstances we couldn't so we cropped in our own homes and shared Our projects through texting! Really fun! It was just about as good as being in the same room!

This card was made completely with supplies from a Use Your Stash Ziploc goodie bag swap that we did last week! This was a way to acquire some new goodies, but not go out and buy anything! It was a lot of fun! The stamp is a greeting farm stamp! These cards will be used for my secretaries at work to wish them a great summer holiday and to thank them for their patience over the school year! I did something a little different and decorated the inside of the card, and put the sentiment on the inside! This idea for the sentiment and the decoration inside was completely copied from my crafty friend Lisa G.

All That Scraps Challenge Brown, Blue, Tan

Well, I haven't been quite as crafty this past week as I have wanted to be! But, a lot of that has to do with me getting thrown off by my laptop quitting and me receiving the dreaded blue screen! I have was focused on seeing if I could rescue it and unfortunately it can't be done more can the data on the hard drive be rescued! I am on the search for a new laptop! So in the meantime this means no videos! However, I will be trying to be crafty here in my space as I carry on the trek of using my stash!

Challenges are a great way to do this!! As you can get inspired by the parameters of the challenge, as well as look for things in your stash to create! I have recently become a huge fan of the stamps from All That Scraps. It all started with my Christmas Haul of Amy R Sentiments! Then continues when I acquired some digital stamps! This card is completely unique from the colour pallets I am used to creating with!! But, I am very happy with how it turned out! The sentiment stamp is from Amy R Snowman Sayings and the digital stamp is called Sweet November Tess!

Biweekly Review of Use My Stash Challenge

So, I have been displaying all my current monthly creations with my Use My Stash Valentines Kit on the counter of Jet Max cubes that line the back of my wall. I find it so rewarding to see all the creations that I have made since I have begun shopping from my own stash before going off and buying something for a project. Here are all my creations since I started this challenge at the beginning of the year. It is so rewarding to see all of these projects. I love how festive this area of my room looks.

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 82: Valentine Ticket Card

I didn't get to post these yesterday, as I was taking time getting the videos edited. However I made these two cards yesterday with a sketch that I used for a Halloween Card for one of Gloria's challenges last year. You can find that here. I really like the look of these tickets, so I decided I would use this design with my Valentine Use Your Stash Kit. I cut all these digital stamps with Lisa's Nestabilities last weekend, so it was great to have those ready to go to create these cards. I have also created a video to show how I made this second card. However, since I upload my videos in HD...it takes more time to get them uploaded.

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 81: You've Got Mailbox

Well, I am so loving the various Valentine mailboxes. Since I have created my Valentine Use You Stash Kit. I have found it very easy to work with this particular theme...I made one of these boxes previously in the week. But, I wanted to make another one. I also asked the creator of this cut file if it would be okay if I could create a video showing all my online scrappy friends how to put this box together. She gave me the okay, so I filmed a video on Saturday. However, it is 23 minutes long which takes forever to format to upload and requires over 14 hours to upload to you tube. Good think I can just set it and frget it. Once the video is processed you will be able to see the detailed instructions how to create this cute little mailbox.

A Few Projects to Show

I have been trying to continue to spend a little bit of time in my scraproom every night! Haven't posted much about it this week, but here is what I have been working on!!! I plan on doing some scrapbooking this weekend!! Need to get back to the wedding album and the Honeymoon Album! But, I also have an idea for a video that I am really excited about!!

All That Scraps - Anything Goes - CC Designs

I'm a little Tea Pot....short and stout. I look all cute with my Swiss Pixie Coffee Birgitta. When I get all blinged out here me shout!! I am so cute with my New CC Design Digi Stamp.

Ok...Ok...it doesn't rhyme...but this is the best I can do with a parody of the Little Tea Pot song. However, I am excited again to be playing along with my second All That Scraps Challenge. The challenge requires that you use a stamp that is sold in the All That Scraps store. This card definitely uses a stamp from the All That Scraps Store - as I just picked it out after my last win at All That Scraps this week. They have the most adorable digital stamps as well as rubber sentiment stamps.

This card was made using my Valentine Kit that I put together with items from my stash. I used the Once Upon a Princess Cricut cartridge and Gypsy to weld the to Teapots together. This card actually fits perfectly in 5.25 x 7.25 envelope. Which to be honest...was just a lucky coincidence! I used
the nestabilities that Lisa brought today to cut out the image. This does a really nice job, something that I haven't attempted with my Cricut and Gypsy...although I am sure it can be done! And if they are something that I want to purchase..I will have to wait for my the end of my Scrappy Purchase Ban....

The digital stamp was coloured with my felts in my collection. I don't own many copics...just two for skin colour...but, I am considering adding some to my collection for for hair colours...but for now...I am happy with what I have.

A Two Card Day...and a Ticker for Scrapping Purchase Ban

I had some odds and ends kicking around and some stamped images that I haven't had a chance to play around with. So, in an attempt to tidy up my work space I chose to use the items that I had around and create these two cards. When I need to take my mind off things I love to colour. These Greeting farm images are great to do this! The Amy R Magincal Wishes sentiments were the perfect stamp sets for these two cards... The second one is a little simple, and in hindsight I should have embossed the pink topnote...but It still ins a pretty card for a little girl!!

I am also declaring my Scrappy Shopping Ban. In an attempt to begin the year off right...I am preventing myself for the next two months to not buy anything scrappy related. I am going to shop in my stash and create with what I have rather than running to the story to buy something new. This week I would say has been a difficult one as you need to break the habits. I would often go to the store on the weekend and look around and buy a few things here and there. However, I have resisted the urge to go today, and when I went on Wednesay to look for a paper cutter to replace the current cutter that I broke. I had things in my hand and then put them back! I looked at the Valentines Day stuff to get ideas for embellishments that I could create at home. And left the store empty handed. I am sure the first little while will be the most difficult, but it will become easier as I go along...

I know it is bad when I forget certain things I have. You might remember this card that I made with my Valentine Card Making session with Lisa before New Year's Eve. I used the tree stamp from her collection, and I totally love the stamp...

well i turns out I have one of my own that I have never used before...so enough said...I am on this Scrappy Purchase Ban for a reason!

Scraproom Wall Decal Project

Today I had a couple of things that I wanted to attempt to complete as I spent time in my scrap space. The first thing was to put a picture frame up above my desk. I would like to create a two page Alison Davis Sketch to put into the frame. I hope that this frame can then be swapped out with new pictures, as I like to have my space filled with crafty decor projects rather than store bought ones. This will help me to stay inspired in my space. Once Andrei helped me put the frame up...than I could put the Wall Decal that I purchased quite a while back up in the room. I was shopping at Dolleramma, and I found a whole bunch of fabulous sayings of Wall Decals. I happened to find one of my favourite quotes that particularly meant a lot to me this summer..."Life isn't measured by the number of breaths we take but by the Moments that take our breath away." This quote gave me hope and excitement as I had to heal and move on from a difficult situation. So, I knew when I saw it that I had to have it in my scrap space...it was a great price....especially when you find it at a dollar store. I attempted to put the quote on my wall today, and it took me a total of 3 hours of standing on my desk peeling each letter section by section. You get what you pay for when you buy a decal at the dollar store that says all you have to do is rub and stick. This did not happen. But, I knew it was worth taking the time to do. It looks great, and I can see it perfectly when I walk into my room, and when I sit at my scrap desk.

Missed My Friday Post

This week I had set a goal for myself to spend time in my crafty space everyday. It was either to organize, get inspired for ideas, or o a little creating. However, my day did not go as planned. I left for work at 8:00 and didn't arrive home and step in the door until 12:30am. We made unexpected plans for dinner with some friends of ours, and then I recieved a phone call that my Dad that my Mom needed my support. She had a really bad day, and needed some laughter. So, Andrei and I set up the Wii. It was a Christmas present. Mom and I danced to ABBA dance. It was so much fun, as there are coordinated dance moves. So we were doing a little routine. Then we played Wheel of Fortune. My Dad beat me...he had a huge winnings of 80, 000 dollars by the time he made it to the bonus round. It was a lot of fun, but it was a late evening....so no crafty time for me...

I hope to do some crafty stuff today. I am just finishing up a card with odds and ends that I have on my desk. Then I am going to finish the overhaul of my room. So, that it is already for as scrappin date that I have tomorrow!!

You are So Sweet Hoot N Holler Owl Card

I am trying to spend a little time in my craftroom everyday for the month of January. I thought that this would be a great way to get me back into craftying, and sharing those creations here on my blog. Yesterday, I spent the evening chosing my All That Scraps Digital Images. This evening I decided to play with my Cricut and new Amy R stamps that arrived on Tuesday. I almost have all the sentiments cut out. It is amazing how many different combinations I will be able to create with these sentiments. I was cutting out the Critter Sentiments tonight, and there were so many cute Owl puns that I immediately thought of my Hoot N Holler Cricut cartridge. I went to my Valentines Kit that I created before the New Year, and pulled out some pink papers to make a cute girlie card. Oddly enough though...I didn't use my Critter Sentiments I used the All About You sentiments. It worked beautifully! I love the two tone look to the stamped image. Worked great...once I am done on this two month shopping ban....I think I am going to invest in a broad variety of dye inks that I will be able to use with these stamps.

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 79 All that Scraps Order Haul Video

I have been patiently waiting for an online order of stamps from the Unites States. I was introduced to a stamp line there called Amy R Stamps. It turns out that the designer behind the stamps is a Canadian from Saskatchewan. Who would of thought that? Us Canadians must be pretty crafty and creative people!! I placed the order on December 8th. But, it didn't come until today, I was a little worried that the largest order that I have every placed online wasn't going to make it here. But, it sure did...and it was sure exciting to open it up and rediscover all the sentiments that I purchased. I have two package of Christmas Type Stamps that I will have to put aside until laster this year when I begin making my Christmas cards. I was so excited to start using some of the stamps that I decided to make another Valentine Treat box like the one in the previous post. But, use the Amy R sentiments on the Tag instead. They are so versatile, as once you get a couple of sets you can mix and match. Additionally, you can give a real pretty affect with a two tone look. Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #92 – Warming Up with Hot Cocoa

I broke the current Valentine theme that I am working with right now to make this card for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge. They have had a two week break so the design team could enjoy the Christmas holiday. I missed all the wonderful creations that are over there. However, they are back for another year of challenges. This week they are challenging us to use a cup or chocolate or even the color brown on your project. So, I chose to use a little bit of everything. The base is a five inch square. I cut the scallop from the Elegant edges Cricut cartrdige. I cut the circle from the George cartridge and then ran it through the Swiss dots cuttlebug folder. I cut the cups from the Joys of the Season Cartridge, and flipped the cut in my Gypsy. The coffee pot came from the Just Because Cards cartridge that I am currently borrowing from my friend Lisa. The sentiment tag was cut from Gypsy Wanderings. The boder punch is made by EK success. The great thing about this card is that all the paper for the embellishment of the card came from my scraps. I always feel like this is a bonus project because I am using items that I have alreay used for other projects for this project. I always enjoy the challenges at FCCB, and look forward to a year of creating with them!

All That Scraps Treat Holder Challenge

Well, I am pretty excited to be be spending the last day of my Winter Break in my pink scraproom. I have been having lots of fun looking at my supplies in new ways, and being inspired by challenges that are out in Blog World. I was recently introduced to a new online store called All That Scraps. She had some amazing stamps created by a Canadian Amy R. She had a whole collection that she orderd. Of course....I had to get my own collection of these sentiment stamps. I have been waiting for them to arrive as Santa was suppose to deliver them in my stocking for Christmas. But, it looks like they got held up at Canadian Customs. So, hopefully this is the week that they arerive so that I can my hands on these sentiments and really begin playing!.

My friend Lisa from the Canadian Scrap N Chat Board introduced me to this new online store and their Blog. I hadn't heard much about it...but she spoke so highly of it that I thought it was time to check it out. I turns out that they have Weekly Wednesday Challenges. The current challenge that closes January is to create a Treat Holder. Well, since I am on a Valentine Theme right now...I thought I would continue with that theme. This treat box was created with my Cricut using the Tags Bags Boxes, and More cartridge. You can cut two of these darly treatboxes out using a piece of 12x12 Bazill pink cardstock. To add a little more dimension...I decided to ink the edges. I also used an Inkadinkadoo flourish stamp to add a little bit more interest. I then added some pink bling from my stash to jazz up the outside. I also did some white faux stiching around the art.

The stipulation of the challenge was to use a stamp from their store...otherwise your project would be removed. So, I chose to use the Greeting Farm Miss Anya Stamp I chose to colour her with my Bic Markers using Valentine colours. I then cut her out and used foam squares to pop her off the treat box. I then used a tag from the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More Cartrdige and inked with Rose Bud Momento Ink. I then used a Studio G Wooden Stamp to stamp the sentiment Happy Valentines Day. I used my glue gun to glue the tag on. I then finished the treat holder off with some sheer pink wired ribbon with silver polka dots. I purchased this ribbon in the after Christmas Clearance Section. It was 75% off. It was great because it is perfect for a Valentine's Project Like this. I plan on filling this package with pink, red, and silver Hershey kisses. But, will wait until closer to Valentines Day to pick these yummy chocolate treats up!

Let's Get Crafty Episode # 78: Valentine Dressform

I am continuing my Valentine Palette of Colours with another dressform card. I am very excited to produce my very first video of 2012. I look forward to the possibility of many more projects. I feel like I am really set to get creating, as I have a craftroom full of beautiful supplies, great tools, and a whole bunch of ideas swirling in my head. It is going to be a Crafty year...I can feel it. This card was made for Gloria's Die Cut Challenge! It was a lot of fun to make!!! I used the Bo Bunny Crush 6x6 Paper Pad. That size pattern is perfect for small cuts like this. Thank-you to Lisa for giving me a little tutorial about how to start playing with this size of paper pad. Gloria's Die Cut Challenge - Dressform

I am ready to do a whole bunch of creting this year. Yesterday was no exception...I had planned on doing a dressform project. To my wonderful surprise...Gloria over at the Canadian Scrap N Chat Message Board posted a Dressform Die Cut Challenge. The Stars had aligned and I was ready to get crafting!! I am also working through a Valentines Day theme since I went through my stash on Thursday night to see what goodies that I have for Valentines. So, I was working in that colour pallete. However, the sentiment I used with these cards could be used for any occasion. The Happiness stamp is from a Making Memories set that I purchased way back. It is a perfect stamp set for subtle sentiments. The corner punch is a pretty punch by Martha Stewart. I am ashamed to say that this is the first time that I have used this punch on a project. It was purchased as a set with a border punch, but could never seem to get them to match up nicely. I have since learned some tips from watching youtube tutorials, so maybe in 2012 you will see me using these corner punches in more of my projects.

Getting a Head Start on Valentines 2012 Cards

Well, I had a fabulous time at Lisa's house last night. We were two giddy school girls all excited to be playing together....No...we weren't playing Barbies...we were making Valentine Cards. For, the humour of the last sentence, you will need to read this post here about the analogy I made to playing as a little girl with my Barbie Dolls to playing and creating with paper crafts. Lisa invited me over early afternoon since she was off work early due to the holiday. She had previously sent me a picture to my Iphone showing me all the Valentine's Day stuff she had to play with. She told me to just bring my cardstock and we could create away. Well, the new philosophy I have been toying with lately is use your stash first before aquiring anything new. So, I began searching, and I found a whole bunch of pattern papers to play with, as well stamps, border punches, and inks. I gathered it altogether to make a kit. I was blown away with all the materials I had that could be used to make Valentines cards. I packed everything up, and was ready to go. However, I forgot the stamps, punches, and inks at home. Oh Well, we will have to use those another time....However, Lisa had some great stuff to play with. I used all my own papers, but used her stamps and nestabilities to make these cards. The Bird Cage Card was made with patterned paper that I have been holding onto for two years. I was saving it for a very special project. Well, I think this is it! I haven't put sentiments on them yet because I was hoping that I might be able to use some of them for Anniversary cards.

A Look Back at 2011....

I enjoy having this blog to document the crafting journey that I take each year. I also like to dabble in sharing the musings of my daily life. However, looking back over the year at my various blog posts...I realized that this year my blog was more a documentation of my creativity rather than my daily life. I have my own theory as to why this was the case. However...I look forward to 2012 having more of those daily memories alongside a tribute to my special creations.

As I prepare my list of New Years Resolutions....I wanted to go back and look at what I said last year...you can find that post here. Wow...when I look over this year's New Years Resolutions I was very ambitious. I had broken down my resolutions into Lifestyle and Crafty ones...

I think I did very well at meeting the first and third one...but I neglected my fitness goal. I did do more exercise than the previous year...but I would like to see it become more of a routine..

As far as the crafty resolutions..I didn't finish my wedding album...but I accomblished quite a few pages. I have also recently started my Honeymoon Album....so that is a step in the right direction.

I completed a variety of project this year, but didn't do as many videos as I liked. I found making those was taking away from my devoted scrapping time, so I let that go. Although...I did have the best of intentions. I would like to get that back to a regular video series in the New Year...just need to come up with a concept....one that is manageable.

Crafty Highlights of the year would have to be having the opportunity to connect with fellow scrappers from the Message Board in real life. The first visit was back in February...you can read all about that here. This lead to an invitation to Gloria's coveted monthly crop nights, that have continued throughout the year. I have further developed strong friendships with the girls, and have frequent scrap dates!! And look forward to many more in the upcoming year.

As far as scrappy accomplishments....I am very proud of my Vintage Card Exploration. This was a lot of fun to complete, as it was out of my comfort zone. Please have a look....I have created a playlist to showcase this project...

Configuration Box Sneak Peek

I often go online and admire a lot of different Altered Projects. However, I never take the plunge and try to do one myself. Until now...it all started when I had a small Scrappy Gift Exchange with some friends that I crop with once a month. We had to create a list of something that we would like in a particular price range. So, I thought that I would ask for the Configurations Box. I put it on the list because it is something that I wouldn't typically buy for myself, but if I was to receive at as gift I would definitely try to do something fun with it...

Yesterday, I decident to take the plunge and begin working on it. It is a lot of fun. Very soothing, as I begin building this 3 D creation, and use lost of layers to have something very interesting to look at in my scraproom that represents me at this current time in my life.

I decided to document this process and turn it into a Youtube Series that I will post in the New Year. But, for now...I thought I would post a little Sneak Peak to show you all what I have been working on in my scrap space the last couple of days.

Dressform Tags

So, I have been admiring Dressforms for quite awhile. However, as I stated in my vintage card series, I am really resisting with buying the die, as I think it is a real fad that isn't going to be around for much longer. Therefore, I am resisting very hard to not go out and buy something special just for that item. So, far I have continued to be sucessful with these two projects. These two tags were made with the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridge. I sized the tags in my Gypsy according to the Tim Holtz size. I cut one layer out of plain cardstock an dthen the next layer out of patterned paper from DCWV. One of them is from the Streetlace Stack and the other one is from the Mod Retro Stack.

The first Dressform is from the Forever Young Cartridge. It is much more modern looking than the Tim Holtz style, but I still really like it. I cut the flowers from a Cuttlebug Flower Die. The flowers were cut out of felt. The Bling is various bling from my stash. If I am not mistaken it came from the Micheals 1.50 section.

The second Dressform was designed in my Gypsy. This is one of the left over dressforms that I created for my Vintage card series. I wasn't too sure if the pink would work on the blue, but it certainly does. I used a flower that I received from a Flower swap, and then the other flowers are from my stash. The Girlfriends stamp is a Studio G stamp. I love those little stamps, and I fell in love with all the Girly ones, but need to make sure that I use them.

There is another cartridge with a very pretty Dressform called Nifty Thrifty. I looked around for it before Christmas, but couldn't find it. It turns out that my friend Lisa from the Message Boards has it, so I will be able to cut out some dressforms the next time I see her. That is pretty exciting! I don't have to buy something, but do get to borrow.

Dressed Up Cricut...Barbies and Scrapbooking

Doesn't she look so darling...I had been home all day due to my cold. Although I was creating in my room I got all excited...with my coordinations box that I got for Christmas. So, I decided to head out to the Dollar store to see if I could find some goodies for my project. Well, I also found these decals for a lap top. There were pictures on the decal packaging showing other devices that you could use it on. It was at that moment I got the brain wave to decorate my Cricut with these. I thought the birds were so darling, and that the colour pink would go perfectly with my pink cricut. Well sure enough when I got home, and put them on...they looked fantastic and so very coordinated. Now, my Cricut looks like those fancy ones that people bought after mine that were all one colour and had the pretty flourishes. It adds a little colour and interest.

Since it is the holidays, I have had a chance to spend a little more time than usual in my scrapspace. One would think that I would have been very productive. I would have many different projects to show for this down time. However, organizing, cleaning up, and doing an assessment of all the fun things I have to play with has me thinking that Scrapbooking is the Big Girl version of Barbies. When I was young, I was completely obsessed with Barbies, I loved having the motor home, the corvette, all the clothes, and all the accessories that went with my Barbies. I had tons of the stuff that I could set up a whole entire Barbie Village with my sister including a hotdog stand, winter lodge, games room, and pool. Barbie drove around with a fancy Winnebego Motorhome, and two corvettes. Barbie also had the most fabulous wardrobe. We had a special spot in the house that we played. It was out of the way, but in an area that you could still walk through.

We would spend a couple hours setting everything up...and then we got tired and leave it all out to come back to later. But, some how the prepartion and setting up seemed so much more exciting than playing Barbies.

When I look at my beautiful scrap space, and all the wonderful goodies that I have to play in here. I can't help, and think that this hobby of mine is not that different from when I was a little girl playing Barbies.

I love that I have set up a special space that I can go and scrapbook at any time. I in fact even have painted this space pink. I have a Pink Cricut Expression, which you could say is the Barbie Motorhome of the scrapbooking world. However, I started with the Corvette the "Baby Bug". I have all these wonderful things to play with, that are beautifully set up in my space and ready to use. I love the the anticipation of the creativity when I am going out to hunt for an item for a special project. Similar to setting up and geting ready to play Barbies. I then bring it home and then I find that there are some items that I haven't had any time to use yet.

And here I am in my space, ready to scrapbook, but like with Barbies...I at times seem to enjoy more admiring everything and the set-up rather than the creating itself...

Kit Exchange

I did an exchange with some friends that I get together and swap with. It was a lot of fun. This is the last kit that I had to work with. It was for my friend Lisa. She got a lot of flack from the group for the kit she chose for us to work with. It was very difficult to come up with a concept. But, she was talking about her daughters Sweet Sixteen this year, and that gave me the momementum I needed to make the projects. I had a lot of fun using all the odds and ends scraps that were left for the cards. That was a real challenge, but you would never know now that the cards are made that these were made from scraps. I hope that she can put these to good use...

Lisa's December Sketch Support Challenge - So Sweet

Well, I have been thinking about this challenge all month. I would say it is the best challenge that I have encountered to date. Lisa from the Canadian Scrap Message Board has been hosting a Monthly Challenge with prizes and everything. When she began this challenge...I specifically set a goal for myself to use these challenges for my Honeymoon Album. I have been working on this Album since this challenge started. I have had the pictures printed for a very long time...and wanted a switch up from the Wedding colours of the Wedding Album that I am working on. The original sketch can be found here. There are lots of great sketches over there, and I highligh recommend taking her class it is very worthwile!

I believe it was her online class that allowed me to take this sketch and make it work for me. Although did it ever take a lot of math to get this layout to work with my existing pictures. I am not a fan of the 2.5 by 2.5 pictures. So, I wanted to adapt it to larger phots. I feel that I was very successful with this. It has all the elements of the original sketch but I made it my own. All the patterned paper comes from the DCWV Summer Stack. The Palm Trees are cut from the Life's a Beach Cartridge. The So Sweet is cut out from the Once Upon a Princess cartridge and the clouds are cut out from Create a Critter with my Gypsy. The butterflies were cut out with a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch. The scallop green was border punched with a Fiskars punch. The stickers were in my stash that I purchased at the Dollar Store last year for my Valentine Friendship Tea Party.

Christmas 2011 Highlights

I can't believe how fast the season goes...it comes and goes in just a blink of an eye, and in less than a week I will be back at work with my students. I wanted to share some pictures of the Christmas highlights. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of me on Christmas Day because I wasn't feeling very well, as I have my annual tradition of a Christmas Cold. I am not very pleased about that but, what can you do?

Christmas Eve we spent with Andrei's parents. We enjoyed a delicous meal with my favourite Chicken Noodle Soup. We got a care package from Anyu. So, I have been enjoying the chicken noodle soup, as I nurse this cold. We had a lovely time, and even were able to do a Christmas toast with Andrei's brother and sister in law over skype. We had a good little visit with them at the beginning of the evening. We sang Christmas carols at the organ that Apu brought into the house. We starte with Andrei just horsing around, than I blue Andrei's socks off with playing Jingle Bells by ear, and then Apu played all the traditional Hungarian Christmas Carols. We do this every year, and it is an enjoyable time spent together. I received some lovely gifts.

Christmas Day we started off with the opening of our stockings. Andrei never did this tradition when he was a young boy, but he is really starting to enjoy this tradition. He has his very own stocking now with his name on it that he quite enjoys...particularly so....since it opens up wider with a Zipper. We headed over to my parent's for Christmas Brunch with Mom, Dad, and Grandma. My sister and her boyfriend joined us later in the afternoon...and then in the early evening my extended family joined us for Christmas dinner. There were a total of 15 of us. My Oma had fallen a couple days before, so she was unable to join us...this did put a slight damper on the afternoon, as everyone were expressing their concerns for my Oma's well-being as she has a broken arm just below her shoulder. There is no sling, and she needs extensive care right now. The little treatboxes I had made the week I was off before Christmas...I had a lot of fun making them, and it was quite entertaining when everyone was bartering their goodies inside. My sister made the most decadent dessert. She made the mouse and chocolate cup to hold the mouse. It was a big hit...I always like to think that my sister has the baking talents and I have the crafty talents of the family. This makes a good trade. She makes treats, and I trade her with crafty projects.

After the relatives left we opened up our presents. I received some lovely gifts. I am looking forward to enjoying them in the upcoming year.

I was hoping to do some upcoming visiting with friends, but have had to cancel on a few engagements now because of this darn cold...so hopefully will be better soon!

Well, we are now ready for the holiday season. All the preparation and all the excitement will unfold over the next few days. We are looking forward to spending time with our family. Tonight we will be heading over to Andrei's parents for a traditional Hungarian Christmas celebration. I am looking foward to the delicious dinner that my mother in law will be cooking. I am eagerly waiting her delicous Chicken Noodle Soup.

Shoe Rack Clip It Up...New Storage Solution

Phew....was this ever a project that I didn't expect to take this long. Putting together the shoe rack was the easy part...the difficult part was finding a workable space for it. After working on a whole bunch of different holiday projects...my room was a mess. I hate to admit it, but at one point I could barely walk in here and see the floor. I was going to take a picture of this, but to be honest...it was too embarassing. To top it all off...I chose to go through my scrap stuff to do some purging. This activity then resulted in me doing a reassessment of the goodies that I have to play with. Boy did I spoil myself this year...I have so much wonderful product in this space...that I am excited to new creations in the upcoming year.

However, the focus of this post is all about my new storage system based on a Scrap Storage Product called the clip it up. The clip it up storage solution has been around for quite some time, but I wasn't sure it was an option for me. For two reasons. The first one is the price point...and the second reason having the space to keep a unit like it. However, I am always looking for ideas on you tube. I came across this video in the summer about a clip it up homemade from a shoe rack. It was a US video that said the shoe racks were available at Walmart. Well, I never saw them here in Canada, so I never thought that it would be an option. However, a favourite Canadian Youtuber, Luvleescrappin found the shoe rack at London Drugs.

Well, I happened paruse London Drugs this week while doing some Christmas shopping, and I noticed that this was on sale for 17.99. I decided to give it a try, and if I didn't like it I was going to return it, or use it for its intended purpose of a shoe rack. Now, it is quite heavy and need to be on a sturdy surface. I knew I wanted to keep some stamp sentiment collections on there. But, I also want to keep products there that I would like to use but forget I have. So, tonight I attached all my Stamping Bella, and Greeting Farm Stamps. I am going to use two different clip options. The middle Tier and the Bottom Tier are going to use clips from Ikea. The top tier is going to use binder clips. The Ikea clips are a little pricer at 9.99 for 24. The binder clips are a much cheaper alternative, and I like how you can put themes of them together.

The purging in my room is all complete. The scrap space looks so wonderfully organized. So after Christmas I am ready to do some creating in here. It just wasn't inspiring when it was so cluttered. I have the storage, but I must remember to use it.

My husband suggested the strategy of 80% scrapping and then 20% clean up, so that the space can stay beautifully organized like this.

I think I may consider that to be my New Year's Resolution!

8.5 x 11 Scrapbook Frames

I wanted to post these picture frames that I made for my friend's daughters. The first frame was made for Emma who is two. She loves monkeys and that is the theme of her room, so I made the little monkey from the Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge. The second frame is for Hunter a four year old who loves lady bugs, and that is what her mother calls her all the time. So, I cut that cute little lady bug from the Create A Critter Cartridge. These were made from a Page map Sketch. The patterned paper was all in my stash. It is amazing what you will discover...when you go shopping in your stash. It was pretty fun to create these two frames. I orginally was not planning to make two the same, but I just loved the patterned paper combo of both of them that I just couldn't resist!

Snuggle Time With Redley

Today was my first day of holidays and I really enjoyed my down time! I planned on doing more crafting then I did, but I decided to spend time chilling with my pooch and husband! I did spend 20 minutes getting some prep for the boxes that I am making for Christmas! I am planning a five days of Christmas project video series! This will start on Tuesday so please stay tuned!

Jar Candles

I always like to give a little something to the secretaries at work! But, at the same time I am trying to cut back the amount I do in preparation for the holidays! I have been known to get carried away! Many coworkers are on diets right now, so I can't buy anything food related. That makes it really difficult, so the only other option is something that is consumable. I chose to go with these jar candles that I found at Superstore for $2.00. I then picked out some patterned paper from my stash that could be Christmasy, but also wintery. The patterned paper came from my Christmas DCWV stack called Tis the Season. I then used my Tim Holtz configuration die to make the pine cone and sage bush! The pine cones look great when the edges are inked with white for snow! They have a very pretty effect! I used my glue gun, and some ribbon to finish them off! They really didn't take that much time at all!but, are a nice homemade touch that I always like to do!

Snowman Soup

I always like to do something special for my students! This year instead of making an individual card for all the students...I whipped up these packages of snowman soup! I included one package of hot chocolate, marshmellows, and
two candy canes. Now I totally cheated for the tag! I had the best of intentions for a homemade tag from scratch, but I have just been too tired in the evenings for this! So instead I decided to just take the tag set that I bought from Walmart tonight and put it on the diecut tag I made from the tags bags boxes and more cartridge! This worked really well!!! The students will enjoy it just the same!!

Oh my does it feel great to Putter...

The past month my weekends have been jamm packed with fun! This one was a busy one! Friday night we socialized with friends! Then on Saturday I completed decorating the house! I will post some pictures later in the week! Later in the day we drove out to Langley! But not until I had a quick stop at Country Lane. Love this Local store! I used a gift certificate and bought a sizzix rose die! Works great with felt! Going to have fun with that one! We took my in-laws for a delicious steak dinner to The Keg! We did a little Christmas Shopping and then headed home! Our pooch was happy to see us!

Today was a fabulous day at home! It was fantastic to putter around the house! We cleaned up the house together and then spent some quality time together! I received a surprise phone call from my parents in Australia! They will be home on Friday and I am sure looking forward to seeing them!

Redley Christmas Dog Ties

I a very enjoyable weekend! A busy one too! Friday Night Andrei and I went for a lovely dinner out! We kept it simple in terms of restaurant and went to Boston Pizza. Andrei loves their Meteor pizza. I came home and fell asleep on the sofa very early on in the evening...just couldn't keep my eyes open. Woke up Saturday morning and headed off to the Christmas Craft Fair at the Coquitlam Rec Centre. It is a huge craft fair with tons of exhibits. I bought a really neat magnet necklace with interchangeable pieces, gourmet white hot chocolate, and a delicious Cinnamon Bun that I gobbled up while waking around. I also bought some yummy short bread. The profits of that went to the Cancer research. Once my wallet was a little lighter. I went for a yummy Greek lunch with my two friends. We had a good meal with great company. I don't get together enough with Tara, so I really enjoyed the time we spent together! I came home and had the best of intentions of getting the house all ready to decorate, but was exhausted...so I puttered around in my scraproom and made 6 cards. I do plan on posting those later in the week. I just need to get the video edited and ready. I had a bit of nap also. Today was a friend's birthday. It was a surprise! Laurie was very surprised! We met at a Indian Restaurant in Vancouver. It It was quite the drive there and back, but it was such a beautiful sunny day that I really enjoyed the drive! I always love getting together with friends outside of work, as you get to learn so many interesting things about friends. I learned that Laurie has a Art Studio Blog. I went and checked it out, and there are so many different inspiring projects on there! I can't wait to follow the posts and learn more about her art. I made the mistake of going to Micheals to get a lovely evergreen spray for the Mantel. Boy was that place an absolute Zoo today. I picked the wrong line up as there was a lady returning a whole bunch of things. Some of them were those picks that you buy. Once I got out of the store...I came home to decorate. The living room is almost complete. But...I am still putting the finishing touches on...so I won't post pictures until it is Martha Stewart ready! My sister called me up to see if I would be willing to work on this project she had in mind. She is also a very crafty person...although she would never consider herself to be that. She was at the Circle Craft Fair in Vancouver on the Remembrance Day long weekend and found some adorable dog ties. They had a 20.00 price tag on them. So, a little pricey when she looked at those she thought...I could so make those. But, what she really meant was...my sister and I can work on these together and make them! LOL! We had a fun couple of hours make these. We made them in a Christmas theme..the Grinch. We made one for her dog and one for Redley. I wasn't too sure if Redley would mind wearing it...but he doesn't seem to mind. We had a whole bunch of chuckles, and Andrei had a good laugh to, although I was worried he would resist and not let Redley wear the tie. But, he had a good laugh when he came home from work.

Circut Rosette Christmas Ornaments

Micheals had Cricut cartridges on sale last week for 29.99. There weren't too many that I wanted or needed! But, I was very suprised when I saw this very new cricut caridge called Ribbons and Rosettes. Rosettes have been around since last Christmas. But, I have only been introduced to them this Spring. I have both Tim Holtz dies and now this one. They all have their unique qualities. But, these ornaments are made with K & Comany double sided cardstock. I purchased this paper in the States on our trip to Bellevue a couple of weeks ago. This paper has a real vingatge feel. But, I think it works for these decorations. I went around the scallop with red glitter glue. The poinsettia is from the Winter Woodlands Cartridge, and the snowflake is a cuttlebug die.

Lisa's November Challenge- Honeymoon Cricut Life's a Beach Layout

My friend Lisa from the CanadianScrapnSwap Mesage board began posting sketch challenges each month. This is the second challenge that she has posted this year. The winner of the challenge for the month gets a 15.00 prize to Micheals. Then you get your name entered into a draw for the end of the year prize if you compete every month. I didn't want to miss out on this challenge so even though I had a whole bunch of new goodies to play with from my trip to Seattle I thought that I would play with this sketch tonight. It was so much fun to play with colours other than my wedding theme or Christmas. I have decided to use Lisa's challenge to scrapbook my Honeymoon Album. So, I was pretty excited to get my second layout done for this. The layout is based on Sketch # 17 from Scrapbook Generations Sketch Support Site. There are some great designers over there, and there are so many great interpretations of the sketch. Lisa was attracted to this sketch because it had stiching...I on the other am not a fan of stiching. I like it on other peoples layouts, but I don't want to take the time to stich a layout. I interpreted the stiching with a flower trail. It was pretty fun to do..I used a whole bunch of handmade flowers from my stash...I particpated in a flower swap this summer an da lot of the flwoers came from there, along with a few that I made. Let's just say that I need to fill up my stash again! EEkss this used a lot.. I typically wouldn't do something like this...but I feel that a challenge is to encourage me to do something that I wouldn't normally do! The other cuts from this cartridge came from the Life's a Beach Cricut cartridge that I have borrowed from my Mom.

Seattle Trip

Andrei and I had a wonderful time away this weekend. It is only our second holiday of the year. We were busy with our backyard this year, and then there were my health issues that held us up from going away this summer. So, we had a chance to escape the city and do some relaxing at the pool and cross border shopping. We stayed at hotel in Bellevue. It was great! Very close to shopping!!! I was able to visit my favourite Mall Crossroads that has a Joanns and a Micheals in it! Wow...what a fun afternoon. I came home with a whole bunch of goodies. Joanns is by far my favourite and always seems to have the best sales. Everything paper crafting was 40% off. Except the Tim Holz texture folders I bought, but had a 40% off coupon for that...then I had a 20% off everything including sale items. Coordinations paper was 5 for 95Cents. Crazy! They also had all this Smash book stuff. Although...I am making my own smash books...I was excited that I could get the special pen and some of the tape to use with the Smash book that I am making from scratch!! Then I bought a few other goodies that I thought would work well with a Smash book.....and then i got to seeone up close and personal to get some ideas for my own creation! I also bought a pack of double sided Christmas paper to make some christmas ornaments. I saw them online...but couldn't make them as all my paper is single sided...It is a paper pack by K& Company...it is very traditional.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge....Bird Project

This weekend I have been trying to get motivated to make Christmas cards. I have a whole bunch of product that I purchased last year, and now it is just trying to come up with some designs that work! I have been looking through all my own magazines, online sights, and even my past projects that I have created. Then I was over at my favorite challenge blog Fantabulous Cricut, and I saw that they have a bird challenge on this week...I almost missed it! So, I started thinking of a design use for a Christmas card. I was inspired by one of my own Vintage style cards here on my own blog, and a piece of patterned paper that came from DCWV Matstack that I purchased last year at Joann's called The Winter Combo. The card uses three different cartridges: Winter Woodlands, fabulous finds for the sentiment cut, and Serenade. I love when I am able to use my Cricut for Multiple cuts. The snowflake was glittered using my Xyron Glitter maker and MS Glitter called Brillo...I am now off to make a set of these....

Julie and I had a fun time in my room creating some scrapbook pages! She has a whole bunch of scrapbooking stuff that she has bought over the years...and she hasn't scrapbooked in years. So the stuff we were playing with isn't current...but it is amazing the pages that you can still create with the Alsison Davis sketch books even though we are using product that isn't right off the shelves of the scrapbook store. The pages really turned out great! And I think it is great that she wants to create this book using the stuff that she has...and let's just say she has a whole bunch of stuff! And a Big sister who has a whole bunch of tools to stretch the capabilities of her stuff..

Cricut Halloween Banner and Mantel Decorations

So, I have been wanting to make a banner for a really long time, but....never took the time! So, I had some Halloween Paper that I had bought last year that I bought specifically to make a Halloween Banner. Well, I never did...but this year was the year. The paper is K&C Company. The stickers I bought this year are also K&C Company. I bought the orange spiders from the Doller store. They were rings, but I cut that part off. I used the banner cut on the Straight from the Nest cartridge. Black Hemp was used to tie the banners together. I did use eyelets to reenforce the holes. The larger rosette green rosette is handmade using the MS Score Board, and one of my border punches. The Black rosette is made with the larger Tim Hotlze rosette die. The letters were cut out with Plantin Schoolbook. cartridge. Then put through my xyron glitter maker face down. I used MS orange glitter to glitter them. I love that effect. The glitter does not come off at all!

However, once I had the banner made and tried to hang it on our everyday decore family room mantel it didn't look like much. So, I went to Micheals on Thursday and bought black leaves with glitter (50% off). Then I bought the two orange pillar candles 60% off. Then I bought that decorated orange and black ribbon for 1.00. Cheap!! I had the black crow and the orange jackolatern already. But, I bought the Beware at the Dollar store. I wanted an elegant Halloween back drop. I think I achieved it...the green candles I had from an after Christmas Bargain. But, I thought they worked well with the colour scheme. This will be up for a couple of weeks

Graduation Card for Two Co-Workers

So, I uesed Gloria's Sketch that she posted to make this card. I loved it so much and thought that it worked well. I had the Rosettes already made up awhile back, so I thought they would be perfect for this particular patterned paper!

90th Birthday Cricut Card

It isn't everyday that you get to make a 90th birthday card!!! This is an easel card also!! It is a 5x7 card! It uses all product from my stash!! I even used my xyron sticker machine for the glittered 90!! I havent used that in quite awhile!! So loving it!! The scallop circle comes from the elegant edges cricut cartridge! The 90 comes from the plantin school book and the flowers were madr with flower shoppe!! The butterfly is a MS punch!! I can't wait to give this to my grandma!!

Wedding Easel Card with Handmade Box

So I made this card for my sister to take to the wedding she is going to on Sunday!!! This is my first easel card!! It is a 5x7 card! I used my Once upon a time cartridge for the cake and my flower shoppe cartridge for the 3d flowers. The sentiment is from studio g dollar stamps, and that was stamped onto a cut from elegant edges!! The embossing foldet is from Once upon Princess companion folder. The embossed large shape also comes from Once Upon a Princess!!

Lisa's Sketch Support October Challenge Honeymoon Album

I haven't really started my Honeymoon Album...but, my friend Lisa at the CanadianScrapNChat message board is now hosting a monthly challenge that is designed to get us scrappers motivated! The first challenge is to use a Sketch from Alison Davis and the Sketch Support site. The sketch that Lisa chose was from week 13. It is a two page sketch that uses banners. You can check the sketch out here. It is a great sketch! But, ironically enough this has banners, and it was just over a year ago that all of us were criticing whether or not we liked banners or not. this layout uses the Cricut for the Kiss Me title. I used the Roly Poly font from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. It was so fun to create this layout, and only use the items that I have in my stash. It feels great to be using what I have...A special part of this layout is that I used some items from Lisa that i received in one of her other challenges that I actually won! The button brads and the decorative blue trim on the left hand side of the mage.

I am getting caught up on my posts! I wanted to share this 30th Birthday card that I made for my sister's boyfriend! I made this card into an easel card! Never tried that before! I am going to try and make another one of these.

I used the plantin schoolbook for the 30 and the elegant edges cartridge for the scallop! The ice cream I made for a swap using the Indie Art Cartridge. It matched the pattern paper sentiment that came from a strip of DCWV paper! I couldn't have matched it more perfectly if I tried! I used my cuttlebug embossing folders to fancy up the scallop! I sanded it to give an intesting effect since it is white core paper! I had fun trying something different!

So, over at the Canadian Scrap N Swap...Gloria posts two challenges a month! I haven't had a chance to complete the first one. But, here is my interpretation of the second challenge of the month! I really wanted to make a Halloween card. You probably can't tell, but the black background paper is spider web paper. I used a couple of cricut cartridges for this project also. Gloria's September Crop Night

I had another fabulous evening with Gloria and friends at her monthly crop night. I wasn't as prepared with pictures as I normally am because I thought that I had a lot more pictures than I did. I had forgotten that I had used a lot of the pictures alrady from my printed out collections with the scrapping marathon I did a few weeks before school started. I have the pictures selected, but just have to upload and order them from Costco. Maybe I will do that later today But, I was only able to complete two layouts last night. However, the good news is that I have the photos selected for the next layouts, I just have to now find a sketch to go with them. I have about 8 12x12 layouts to complete for the first album. I have so many pictures that I am going to have two 12 x12 American Crafts binders of wedding photos. The first album is going to be just the getting ready for church, arrival at chuch, ceremony, and then outside the church. The second album will include pictures from the photoshoot between the ceremony and the reception, and then the shots from the reception.

I am so happy that my friends at the Canadian Scrap N Swap message boards turned me to the direction of the Ali Davis Sketches. They are really allowing me to have consistent and uniform pages throughout the album. The way the paper is used throughout the pages allow paper packs to be stretched so much further. I am getting better use of my pattern paper. I am also enjoying using the DCWV paper packs for the themes of this album. These help the pages to have a uniform look from one to the next.

My favourite layout is the Forever Begins today! I reallt like the rosettes. I was abke to play with Glorias double rosette die! This die came out after I bought mine! I must say that I do enjoy the size of those better! Maybe Santa will buy it for me!

Tattered Floral Look With Cricut

So, I had a little fun today with the Cricut! I used the flower cut from Forever Young, and I used my decorstive scissors to change the look of the petal to give it a tattered look. An idea I got off of a you tube video! These were just cut out with regular white cardstock! I inked the edgea with pink and used my flower stylus and wooden skewer to give the shape and dimension to the flowers! I like the effect and these could be done in any color!

So, I have been having a little fun with my newest Cricut Cartridge Flower Shoppe! It has a whole bunch of fabulous cuts in it to make 3D flowers! I have been going through the book and following the samples. But, some of them I end up making my own style. I made a lot of purple ones tonight because I figure I will use them in my Wedding Album...but..I am going to experimetn with some different colours too. I am arranging them in a special drawer with dividers in it so, I can go to that cubby when I need som ethree dimensional flair! So, much fun to make!

Two More Wedding Layouts Tonight

This First Layout is called With This Ring. I wanted more pictures of Andrei's face while putting the ring onto my finger, but the photographer didn't seem to get as many. Or, if he did take pictures of him his eyes were probably closed. The title is cut out using the Gypsy Wanderings Font. The stamped saying was cut out with George and Basic Shapes. I bought the Wedding Quote stamp set to use in my layouts, and this is the first time I have used the stamp set. I am famous for buying stamps to make my own embellishments and then never following through with them. The little purple flowers are from the Micheals Recollections brand.

The second layout has one of my favourite pictures from the Wedding Ceremony. The kiss! It was actually our family friend Larry who dabbles in photograph who took this "money shot". I love how my eyes are closed and Andrei's are open! So cute! We had to ask if we could kiss each other, as the priest didn't say that you could now Kiss the Bride! So, that is why we are giggling in the other shots! I am having a lot of fun reliving this special day while scrapbooking!

Vintage Card Series: Silhouette Head (Episode # 71)

I am having a whole lot of fun playing with the Vintage style. It is even more challenging when I am only allowing myself to use items from my stash. I have never really tried Vintage before, so I don't have the typical items in my stash that scream vintage. However, when I was at the scrapbooking store a month ago. I saw this very pretty Teresa Collins paper called Posh. It is a collection of girlie papers. One of the sheets had a black Silhouette head on a oval and then a pink background. I immediately fell in the love with the paper. But, resisted because I wans't to sure what I could really do with the paper.

So, I filed the design away in my creative repetoire. I pulled it out for this card, and although the head shape is more modern then vintage... this card still pleasantly fits the theme I am working with!I think I might like to try and make more of this style! Lisa's Challenge Use Your Embellishment Wedding Layout...I Do

I am having so much fun in my room today! It really has been a marathon! But, I think my craftyness might of come to an end for today now. I have a late dinner to make. I have vacuuming, and laundry to do. I can do this now that Andrei is off to work! However, I have had a blast creating today, and trying a whole bunch of things. This challenge was posted by my friend Lisa over at the Canadian Scrap N Swap Messageboard. She asked any of us to create a layout that uses an embellishment that we have had laying around in our stash, but just haven't used. So, I chose these darling butterflies. I bought them back in May, but just haven't found the right layout to use these with! Until today! The Title was cut out using the Cricut from the Sweet Treats cartridge. The large Die Cut piece on the left hand page was cut out from my Elegant Edges cartridge. I lined it all up in my Gypsy, so that it only cut 4 inches of the cut as required by the sketch. The sketch that I used for this layout actually comes from the Sketch Support Website. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. But, have changed the 3 4x6 pictures on the left page for one 4 x 12 picture! Thanks for checking it out!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge: Use Yellow

My favourite challenge blog has a new challenge up today! The challenge is to use the colour yellow! Well, I checked the challenge this morning! I didnt think that I was going to be able to participate because I find yellow a tough colour to work with! However, I was sorting through items in my stash and found these adorable butterflies cut out with the colour yellow! So, I was inspired to make this card using these butterflies. These butterflies are a cricut cut from the graphically speaking cartridge. The card is a 5.5 card! I designed this card in my gypsy. The card base uses the square from George and Basic Shapes, and a book design from the Elegant Edges. These were welded together to make the base, which was then cut out of kraft cardstock! The patterned paper is from my stash! The scallop circle was also cut out from Elegant Edges also!

Cricut Sweet Toothe Box Cartridge with Cupcake Box

I was very excited to use my new Cricut cartridge the Sweet Toothe Boxes. It is a great cartridge with a whole bunch of fun cuts. The purpose of this box is to hold a whole bunch of different cupcakes. I bought this cartridge with Julie in mind. Since she loves to make all sorts of cupcakes. However, the boxes can be use for a whole bunch of other different purposes. For instance, this box was used as a small gift box for my Uncle Carl for his birthday. Our extended family doesn't exchange gifts anymore. But, I had to bring a little something as a gift. So, I filled the box with chocolate covered almonds. I followed all the directions in the book to make the box. Except I added a few of my own details including embossing the cupcake top. And then glittering the all the swirls. I thought it gave the cupcake a more realistic look. I then also put a ribbon around the base of the cupcake box for an extra added embellishment. In the future, I think I will add one of my stamped sentiments "Seize the Cupcake". But, for my first attempt I think it looks pretty cute.

Three 12 x 12 Wedding Layouts to Share

I had a lot of fun playing in my scraproom tonight! I completed three different layouts and used a whole bunch of Cricut cuts to do it. I love how I am able to use my Gypsy to size the items I need perfectly for the layout. I used a variety of cartridges to complete these projects, and of course I used Alison Davis Sketches. I love the clean lines of her sketches. I find that these sketches allow me to focus on the photographs when looking through the albums rather than the embellishments on the page. The white flowers on Family Wishes layout were hand made by myself! I am really enjoying making handmade flowers, but of course when you add all those odds and ends...it takes a long time to complete a layout. But, three layours in an evening is pretty good. I am finding the most difficult part is chosing the photos for the layouts and then the sketches to go with the layout!

Tea Cup Boxes with the Cricut

I am always looking for ways to get Crafty. I stumbled across a tea cup box while I was looking around. Of course the templates I found for a 3D tea cup were either labour intensive or I had to buy a special die cut like the Sizzix Tea cup die that is featured below here.

However, I was determined to find something that I could create in my cricut. Even if it meant that I had to design it myself in the gypsy. However, I first thought I would do a google search to see if there was anything out there. Well, thankfully there was. I found this link to the 3D Tea Cup box on the old cricut message board. This cut file is part of a series of cut files that were developed as part of a
Cricut Shape Boxes swap. Although, I didn't participate in this swap. The ladies were kind enough to share all of the shape boxes with the rest of us! There are tons of great ones. I was so excited to find a tea cup one, that I had to cut it out immediately and make one right away! Actually, I made three of these right away, and a video showing you all the process thanks so much for stopping by!

Vintage Card Series: Dressform with the Cricut

So, I have jumped on the Dressform bandwagon. I was at Country Lane scrapbook store parusing around at all the different embellishments and projects, and I found quite a few different items whether it be stamps, chipboard, paper, or die cuts that had a dress form. This item intrigued me to think about what could be created with a project such as this. I resisted the tempation to buy anything on the spot like that and I decided to go home and see what I could find on youtube and google images. Well, to my surprise this is a trend that has been around for quite a while! I almost missed it! I than made it my challenge to create my own dressform using my Gypsy and current cricut cartridges. It is very easy to get caught up with a trend...only to find you never used an item again. I explain in my video the process to designing the Dressform, as well, as showing you how to make the card. This is typically not my style, but I am really happy with the finished project! Please expect five more videos that will show you the different vintage inspired cards.

Homemade Glue Gun Base

So, I have been using my mini glue gun a lot lately because I use it to make Rosettes using the Tim Holtz die, and as well I use it to make handmade flowers! Boy is it addicting to make those! So much easier too! Well, I was off in Youtube Crafty land when I came across by accident a tutorial for a Glue Gun. The youtubers channel I got this project from is Myautumnsunset
. She has a fabulous sense of style with her projects! I love it! I couldn't replicate her style. But, I came up with my own. I used crackle paper instead of crackly paint!

3x3 Cards

I used these cards to get back my scrappin mojo! I had some odds and ends on my desk that I kept on my desk to make the butterfly cards. My scrap stash has also been building up, so I thought it was time to really go through that and use it to make cards. It is so much easier to use the stash to make 3x3 cards. Gloria's Card Challenge August 2011

Over at the Canadian Scrap and Swap Messageboard. Gloria always posts a monthly card challenge. Well, I am embarassed to say that I have not participated in a really long time! Just didn't have any crafting Mojo! Well, it is gradually coming back to me which is great because I really have some great stuff to play with and it is a shame when you don't feel inspired to create! It was my Dad's Birthday and I made this card for him. However, I just had a chance to post it now!

I bought this Rosette die just before my birthday, and really haven't played with it too much! So, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to take the embellishment from the sketch and turn it into a rosette. I plan on making some more of these cards when I have some time this week. The DCWV paper is from the Celebrations paper stack. The scallop is three inches from the Winter Woodland cartridge, and the Tag for the Happy Birthday is from Gypsy Wanderings. I used Sookwang tape for the glitter strip along with Martha Stewart Glitter in garnet.

Getting Organized.....

So, my summer has been not what I expected it to be! I have had some health issues, so I have been taking it easy and using this summer to get the rest that I need. However, I am feeling a lot better, and after a long weekend at the lake I am feeling refreshed and ready to get organized.

I have a few goals that I want to do over the summer. But, one of the goals that I am working on right now is to develop a home management binder. This binder will have five different sections:
- Weekly Meal Plan.
- Favourite Recipes
- Eating Out Pamphlets
- Home Cleaning Schedule
- Budget

The first section that I am working on right now is the weekly meal plan. I tried this out earlier in the year, but fell off the wagon when I got sick. So, now I have carefully developed a template that works for me. However, I found a template here that really works for me! I have customized all the different options that you can have for food! It starts to look more optimistic of the different options we have when we plan ahead! My husband is quite a picky eater, so it can be challenging to accomodate his likes and my likes. But, now I have come up with a plan it should be easier.

The funny thing about this post is that I forgot about it, and just remembered it now. Well, thank goodness blogger has a save feature or this post would have been long lost! But, to say the very least, the meal plan for the week was a huge help. However, things didn't go as planned. I got too busy with fun stuff, that I was unable to do a huge grocery shopping trip. But, it was super handy not to have to decide the day of or the dinner hour what we are having to eat. I hope to continue this, and then add what I have learned to flyer shopping and coupon shopping next. I am sure this will be much easier once I develop my system.

I will be sure to keep you posted.

Emma's 3rd Birthday

It all started with an idea on a friendship afternoon! Sara and I got together about a month ago for a visit, and she was showing me the Hello Kitty party items that she had got from her Mom. Well, we quickly turned this into a fun theme! That afternoon we made the loot bags together witht the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge and the Hello Kitty cartridge. We looked for some other neat ideas online. We came up with pin the bow on Hello Kitty. I volunteered to make this, and then I saw these hats a while back that Lauren from Lauren's Creative made. The directions were really easy to follow, and they turned out super cute. They were some work to make, but the children wore them for most of the party, so it was well worth the love and time that went into these!

When I was telling my sister all about the party theme. She told me all about the Hello Kitty cake pan. She offered to make Emma's birthday cake if Sara found and purchased the pan. Sure enough she found one, and my sister spent the evening making the cake. Apparently it took her 1.5 hours to pipe the cake! It was another crafty project!

Us girls need to get into the party business!LOL!

Ahhhh...Long Weekends

Well, it Sunday, and I still have one more day off tomorrow! It is super! I am getting a chance to do a little bit of everything! Friday night, I had a movie night with my sweetie pie! We watched the movie the Perfect Getaway, it was a murder thriller, not usually my style. But, this movie wasn't too gory, and had a super twist. It was worth it! Yesterday, I had a lot of fun as I took my 89 year old Grandma for her very first pedicture! I sat across from her, and was able to enjoy looking at all the faces she was making as she took it all in. This was a Christmas present for her! She couldn't believe they worked on her feet for an hour! (Her words...not mine!)

I had a good visit with Grandma, Mom, Dad, and Julie after the pedicure! I brought Grandma back to Mom and Dads. Then I came home and spent time with Andrei before he went to work. I worked on the party hats some more, and then Julie phoned and invitied me to the movies to see Bridesmaid! Oh my was that a funny movie! I had a whole bunch of fabulous belly laughs! It was great to watch! Girl Humour!

I have been looking through my stash.Seeing if there is anything that I can perge because I don't use it anymore! And looking around there are a few things that I can now get rid of! Feels good to perge.

I am off to shop...need to buy present for Emma. Her 3rd birthday party is tomorrow.

Its OWL Good Card Box and 6 Cards

I have been really wanting to make up some different card sets. I thought I had the perfect opportunity to do this using my new Cricut Lite Cartridge Hoot N Holler. I was able to incorporate it into this particular colour scheme. The card box is made from the Spring Cards Cartridge. I was able to alter the size of this box using my Gypsy so that I could put 6 cards and 6 A2 size envelopes in there! The stamp I have had in my collection for a while. I believe that the stamp is a studio g stamp that came from Micheals on a shopping trip to Seattle. It has an adorable owl, that I didn't use this time! The patterned paper on the cards was misc. paper from my station. Ironically, it isn't from the same company as the card box. But, they coordinate very well! I used Tulle to hold the box together, although this didn't really seem necessary!

3x3 Birdie Card for Set

Of course I just had to make an adorable little card to go into the card box. I made six of these cards for the coordinating box. I also made envelopes to go inside the box as well! These are a lot of fun to make, and then I wrap them up and sell them at the craft fair! That is if I do another craft fair!

I just love this idea for a 3x3 card box that I got from Sarah from LiveLoveand Scrap. You can see her blinkie to the right of my blog bar. I have since changed the design of this blog. But, my favourite part of this project is the handmade flowers that I did. Those flowers were made out of five small flower punches and the leaves were made from the daisy punch. It was a tedious aspect of the project. But, just so darn cute at the same time!

BBTB2 Strawberry Card Challenge

So, I am having fun making cards again! They are short and sweet and don't take too much time when your busy and on the go! Working hard at keeping the gardening up to par, so not as much crafty time! But, it is sure wonderful to get outside and play! So, I am really enjoying looking to sites for challenges. This challenge by BBTB2 was meant to be. I was looking for my card kit basket, as it is hasn't been used in awhile. I saw that I had made a kit up to with strawberry patterned paper that was left over from anothe project that I had made. I knew when I made this kit that I wanted to use one cricut cut strawberry for a feature of the card. Well, when it couldn't have been more perfect, as I could make this card for the challenge. The strawberry is cut out from the Paisley cartridge.

My Creative Time Throwback Challenge with Doodlecharms

Emma from My Creative Time has a fabulous weekly challenge! I haven't participated in any challenges for quite some time! I have been working on my wedding album, and not making very many cards. But, last night I decided it was important to make some cards! I thought it would be fun to use this Anya stamp that I purchased last year! I hadn't used it yet, but knew wehn I bought it that I wanted to use it for a Happy Summer holiday card for my coworkers. As we are teachers, and I always like to give a little something to the the extra special people that I work with! So, when I read Emma's challenge I knew that this was going to work out perfectly because of the darling sand castle on the cartridge and the fun sun cut! The best part of this card is that I used items all from my stash!

Here are the details for this challenge:
***Use "DOODLECHARMS"cartridge OR if you don't own this cart.
PLEASE incorporate the color BLUE somewhere on any project of your choice!

I used my gypsy to size everything for this A2 size card.
The sun, sandcastle, and beach bag were all cut out from the Doodlecharms cartridge, and the clouds were cut out from the create a critter cartridge. I had almost forgot about incorporating the blue colour into the card. But, in the nick of time I inked the clouds with blue studio pigment ink. I did this after I had used the swiss dots embossing folder on the clouds. I think this turned out darling. Inside the card, I stamped a Studio G Sentiment. It says Hip Hip Horay Vacation! I plan on making 5 more of these cards!

The Fascinator

So I had a chance to get crafty for the Royal Wedding. No, I wasn't invited to this special event....But, our school had a Mad Hatter Day. One of the teachers was hosting a high tea and everything! So, she got her class to host the Mad Hatter Day. I knew that whatever I wore that day...had to be a homemade project. I was sitting in my scraproom thinking about what it was that I could dmake myself to fit this theme. All of a sudden it came to me a Fascinator! So, I thought there must be someone out there that has done a tutorial on them. And sure enough, I found the tutorial, and roped my Mom into making this with me. I Had a matching blue shirt, and did my hair and make up all nice. Very difficult to tell from the picture, but I had a lot of fun, and received a whole bunch of comments.

Although it didn't look homemade, I had a lot of people ask me if it was because because they know that I am crafty! So, I took that as a compliment whether it was intended to be one or not!

Mother's Day Cards 2011

There are a lot of challenge sites right now that are encouraging all of us to get our Mother's Day cards completed for next weekend. I have had this basic grey paper in my collection for about a month. I bought it purposefully at Micheals on a sale because I liked the colours, and I don't tend to use colours like this! So, I wanted to challenge my creativity with this butterfly paper. Plus...I have been using a lot of Alison Davis sketches, and she always comments on how striped paper brings a project all together. this paper line had a pretty coorinating striped paper! So, I made this card! I am very pleased with the results!

This is a card that I actually didn't use any Cricut! I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch, and a Studio G cling stamp for the sentiment!

Gloria's Sketch Challenge April 15th

Gloria from the Canadian Scrap and Swap message boards always posts challenges and has prizes to go with them. Since I have been working so hard on getting pages completed for my Wedding Album....I haven't had a chance to make many cards lately! I am finding that I do need to take a break from the wedding album for a week or two just to challenge myself to do other with other techniques, tools, and projects. So, I decided to try two of Gloria's sketches the April 15th and the April 1st. However, I can't seem to find the April 1st sketch now. It might have been deleted mistakenly. So, I can't find the sketch for inspiration. However, this card still had the sketch. I used my cuttlbug, gypsy, cricut, and New Arrival cartridge for this project! I love those little feet....I think they are just darling!

TinkerBell Disneyland Autograph Book

My girlfriend is taking her daughter to Disneyland next week, and I offered back in December to make an autograph book for her to take with her to Disneyland. Her favourite character is Snow White, however I dont' have any snow white stuff to use, but have a tone of Tinkerbell. You may recall the Mailbox that I made at Christmas time for her daughter. Well, it was quite the struggle to find Snow White product. I don't have the Princess cricut cartridge, otherwise it would have been much easier to whip some up! Maybe that will be a future cartridge for me! I will have to watch for when they come on sale at CricutMachine.com. But, for now I used some of my Tinkerbell stash! I have been really wanting to make a Mini Album with all the goodies that I have. But, have no idea what I would do with the album after I made it? But, it would be fun to do! Stay tuned...maybe there will be one in the upcoming future! I used my gypsy to cut out the chipboard for the album. The shape is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I cut it in half to accomodate a size that would be easy to carry around. You may recall that I made a Tinkerbell autograph/ mini album a couple of years ago for antoher friends daughter. However, I chose not to make this an album that holds pictures because my girlfriend said that it was difficult for the characters to sign on the designated page. So, this is strictly intended to be an autograph book!

Groom Arrives

The original sketch for this layout was suppose to be with the week four sketch from my Alison Davis Sketch. However, that sketch just wasn't working for me, so I decided to use one from my sketch book. I am happy with how this turned out, and it is so easy to make coordinating embellishments with the book and my cricut and gypsy. I am not really to sure how I was able to scrapbook well without the cricut Gypsy. This layout contiues to use DCWV paper black current, stickers from the dollar store, and the chiboard stickers were from K&C company that I purchsed over Spring Break. The circles and the sayings were cut out with my Gypsy and use the Gypsy Wandering cartridge and the Opposites attract cartridge!

This set of photos was taken on the steps prior to the wedding ceremony procession. I had this layout completed last weekend, but I had no idea what to use for the title. I had a heck of time coming up with one. Thankfully, I have quite a few cartridges now that I have premade sayings. I was looking over the "cartridge" that came preloaded on the gypsy called Gypsy Wanderings and found the saying Remember and then moments. These seemed to work well together, as I do remember the moment of being on the stairs, it was at that moment in time that I had a whole rush of emotions and panicked because I didn't have any tissue. However, I was able to pull myself together to smile beautifully walking down the aisle with my proud father!
